Bones For Life is proud to be an official affiliate supplier of Vivobarefoot - a minimalist footwear brand designed to support natural movement, foot strength and long-term musculoskeletal health.

WHY FOOTWEAR MATTERS FOR BONE HEALTH
During strength training, force travels from the ground through your feet and up through your skeleton.

Support strong, stable feet and you improve:
• Force transfer during squats and deadlifts
• Stability and balance under load
• Activation of intrinsic foot muscles
• Natural alignment and posture
• Proprioception (body awareness)
• Falls prevention capacity

Your feet are the foundation of your bone-loading strategy.

WHY VIVOBAREFOOT?
Vivobarefoot shoes are designed to:
• Allow natural foot movement
• Promote foot strength and mobility
• Provide a wide toe box for proper alignment
• Offer minimal cushioning to enhance ground connection
• Improve sensory feedback for balance and control

Unlike traditional cushioned trainers, minimalist footwear helps your feet actively engage - not switch off.

HOW THIS SUPPORTS YOUR TRAINING
At Bones For Life, we focus on:
âś… Progressive bone loading
âś… Safe, high-intensity resistance training
âś… Balance and coordination
âś… Falls prevention

Wearing appropriate minimalist footwear can enhance your connection to the floor, improve movement mechanics and help you get the most out of your ONERO® training sessions.

Protein becomes increasingly important as we age.

Australian nutrition guidelines indicate that adults over 70 generally need more protein than younger adults to help maintain muscle and physical function.

Approximate protein requirements as recommended by Dietitians Australia for
- Adult women: 0.75g/kilogram of body weight/day.
- Adult men: 0.84g/kilogram of body weight/day.
- People who are over 70 years old: 1g/kilogram of body weight/day.

Getting enough protein from foods such as eggs, dairy, fish, legumes, tofu and lean meats helps support muscle health, mobility and independence - especially when combined with regular strength training, like Onero®.

At Bones For Life, we often talk about the partnership between nutrition and exercise. Strong muscles help support strong bones. 💪🦴

Calcium is important for bones - but it doesn’t work alone. 🦴

Research shows bone health depends on multiple nutrients working together:
âś… Protein helps build bone structure and supports bone density, especially in older adults.
âś… Vitamin D helps your body absorb and use calcium.
âś… Magnesium supports bone formation and calcium regulation.
âś… Vitamin K helps move calcium into bones where it strengthens them.

Strong bones = strength & balance training + good nutrition đź’Ş

Thank you to all of our members who participated in our recent two-week strength testing for the Deadlift and Squat!

It was fantastic to see the commitment and effort from everyone involved, and the results speak for themselves with every participant achieving a positive increase in their 5RM working weight! There was an average deadlift improvement of 11.3kg and an average squat increase of 9.4kg.

These outcomes are a strong reflection of the consistency and hard work within our community, and we are proud to support your ongoing progress. If you would like to be involved in future testing rounds, we encourage you to contact our team and register your interest.

Falls are one of the biggest contributors to fracture risk as we age. The good news is that exercise helps reduce that risk.

Strong clinical research shows that structured strength and balance training can reduce fall incidence by about 20–58% in community-dwelling older adults, especially when programs include balance practice, gait training, and progressive strength work.

Improving leg strength, stepping reactions, and overall balance doesn’t just help you feel steadier, it also helps protect your bones by lowering the chances you’ll fall in the first place. And some meta-analyses suggest that these kinds of exercise programmes can even reduce fracture risk over time.

At Bones For Life, we focus on evidence-based strength and balance training using the Onero® Program because better movement = safer, stronger ageing.

If you’ve been told bone loss is “just part of ageing,” it can feel discouraging.

But research shows that bones remain responsive to targeted, progressive resistance training, even in post-menopausal women and older adults. The key isn’t doing more - it’s doing the right type of loading, safely and consistently.

At Bones For Life, we use evidence-based exercise principles to help you build strength, improve balance, and support bone density - no matter your starting point.

It’s never about being the fittest in the room.
It’s about becoming stronger than you were yesterday. 💪🦴
