We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with our friends at Communico SLS to bring Little Auslan Academy classes to Ermington in Term 2! 🎉

🧸🎨📖 Our Little Auslan Academy classes are designed for 0-5 year old children and their caregivers, featuring games, stories, songs, craft, and play—all led by an experienced Deaf mentor and Auslan interpreter.

Let’s face it, screens are not great for children’s language development for a number of reasons. Language is learnt through social interactions, hugely in the early years! Try to replace screen time with book reading and joint social play games.

“Communicating for Life”. To us, this year’s theme highlights how building strong communication skills help navigate daily living, while maintaining healthy relationships and meaningful connections.

Certified practising speech pathologists are the professionals who work with the millions of Australians with communication difficulty.

Any communication difficulty, mild or complex, may be a barrier for a person to interact with others and participate in everyday activities.

With the right support every person with communication difficulty can overcome these barriers and live a good life.

During Speech Pathology Week 2023 (20-26 August) we aim to raise awareness of the tremendous work that certified speech pathologists do. Find out more about speech pathologists and how they can help on our website.

Today we had the pleasure of presenting to a wonderful team of NDIS Support Coordinators over at Engage Abilities! We spoke about all things Speech Therapy with a focus on supporting speech therapy access. It was great to connect with such a friendly and knowledgeable team!

I drew this ages ago and then forgot about it.

Many Autistic people are not lacking in social skills. Get a bunch of neurodivergent friends together and watch the magic happen.

Many of us are not lacking in humour or sarcasm. The funniest people I know are neurodivergent. Our humour may be different to yours.

Many of us have so much empathy that the feelings try to crush us. We might express that empathy differently to you.

We communicate. Our communication style is probably different to yours.

It’s not that we don’t have these skills.
It’s that we do them differently. They look different.

And they’re often unrecognisable to neurotypical folk.

As Chloe Hayden says, ‘different, not less’.
