I made a mistake.

I didn't follow my better judgement when I started my nutrition consultation business last year and took the wrong path with my marketing approach as a result. I made a mistake, but I'm going to fix it.

From today, I’m shifting away from centralised social media marketing and prioritising offline and personalised promotional activities. This is a big part of running my business in a way that is authentic to me. I appreciate that it won’t be for everyone, but I am sure that it will resonate with many.

The solution that I have developed is a grass roots, community-based initiative - I've named it ‘Wellness Unplugged’. This project is grounded in meaningful, face-to-face conversations with owners of local businesses that contribute positively to the quality of life of their community, harnessing the power of storytelling as an output. It prioritises genuine one-on-one connection over homogenous digital social networking. It is part cross-promotion activity and part passion project.

😾 LESSONS FROM THE ARMCHAIR OF SIR GRUMPS-A-LOT 😾

Last week, our beloved cat, Sir Grumps-a-Lot, took a bad health turn. By Thursday, we thought the visit to the vet clinic would be his last. Thankfully, it wasn't, and on some excellent advice and support from his Vet (shout out to The Corner Vet!), he has bounced back for now. He truly embodies the 'nine lives' feline philosophy! Whilst his days are still numbered, we treat each one as a beautiful opportunity for a little more quality time with him.

I love this little guy and I have actually learned a lot from him, particularly over the past week. I thought that some of these lessons may inspire you all to get out there and live your best lives and always remember self-care:

🛏 When you need to rest, you need to rest, even if it means peeing on yourself on your favourite beanbag. Listen to your body - it offers you a wise intuition if you delve deep enough to hear.

🥩 The food that used to work for your body may not be right for you at this stage of life. Our nutritional needs change across different life stages. It is important that we honour this, even if it briefly makes us cranky that we can't have our favourite people-grade steak every single evening for dinner anymore.

🧶 Our body is truly a fully integrated and synergistic ecosystem. Pull one (ball of) string and it will invariably affect another. I know I bang on about this all the time, but it bears repeating.

📈 It is NEVER too late to make changes to improve your health and quality of life. Each day is a new opportunity to try new things, learn, develop and improve, even when you are the old, geriatric variety of creature. Humans can have nine lives, too!

💪 You are stronger than you think you are, and can work through more than you realise. Beating the odds is absolutely not unheard of. Sir Grumps has achieved this a few times over.

As we round the corner of a brand new 12 month period, many of us are thinking about our goals for the year. This can seem daunting and even a little restrictive - what if we change our minds? What if our circumstances change? Worse still, what if we fail to achieve these goals?!

The anticipatory guilt and shame can be enough to stop us from meaningfully considering what we want to achieve.

I prefer to determine what my values-based INTENTIONS are for the year before even considering specific goals.

❔HOW do I want to achieve my goals?
❔HOW do I want to move through life over the next 12 months?
❔HOW do I want my legacy to have been reshaped by this time next year?

This way, no matter what my tangible achievements are, I can be confident that I have met them by staying true to the values and philosophies that are most important to me. And isn't that what really matters at the end of the day?

This year, I plan to focus on my very deeply held value of authenticity. Many of you who know me probably already think that this quality goes uncompromised in my life, but I will be taking it to the next - more proactive - level, largely through my business.

I invite you to adopt the same reframing of thought.

Intrinsic Nutrition is moving! From November 1, all in-person consults will be held in my new home clinic space at 280 Pascoe Vale Road, Essendon. This allows me to expand my in-person availability to three days each week - Wed, Fri & Sat - and offer clients a calm, confidential space surrounded by lots of greenery and natural light that is especially set up for them.
