Did you know that we commonly use cupping at Essendon Natural Health?

Used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine, cupping is a gentle and natural healing technique that involves placing suction cups on the skin to improve circulation and release muscle tension.

There are different forms of cupping therapy, including wet, dry and moving cupping that can help support health concerns such as muscular pain, inflammation, poor circulation and stress.

The pressure used during treatment can be easily adjusted to suit your comfort level, making it a gentle and relaxing form of natural healing.

Cupping can also have benefits for concerns such as respiratory issues, digestive discomfort and fatigue.

The skin is our body’s first line of defence against the external environment.

That’s why maintaining its balance and integrity is essential for overall health and for helping prevent a range of skin conditions.

Your skin microbiome plays a key role in maintaining the optimal barrier function of your skin by protecting against harmful pathogens, reducing inflammation and promoting healthy skin tissue.

Maintaining a healthy balance of the different microbes that live on your skin can help keep your skin looking and functioning at its best.

Here are five simple holistic approaches you can take to improve your skin microbiome:

👉 Choosing skin care products that match your skin’s pH levels

👉 Avoiding harsh cleansers and overwashing

👉 Supporting your gut health with a fibre-rich diet

👉 Adopting a Low GI Diet

👉 Reducing Stress (we know it’s tricky!)

A naturopathic approach can help support you with the management of skin conditions. Visit our website or call us on (03) 9337 8572 to book an appointment.

It’s common to feel unsure about what might happen to your skin after coming off the pill.

Commonly prescribed contraceptive pills such as Brenda, Dianne, Estelle and Yaz (also known as Yasmin) often contain either Cyproterone or Drospirenone. These ingredients are designed to reduce free androgen hormones (like testosterone) and limit the amount of oil the skin produces.

When coming off a contraceptive pill, some patients may experience what’s known as post-pill acne. This often can be managed through a naturopathic approach that focuses on restoring hormonal balance and addressing other possible contributing factors such as skin care products, stress and diet.

For the best support, it’s often recommended to start Naturopathic care two months before stopping any oral contraceptive pills.

Natalie Earles is a registered Clinical Naturopath here at Essendon Natural Health with a special interest in the holistic management of skin conditions.

Acupuncture has been a form of traditional Chinese medicine for many years, supporting health and overall wellbeing.

Acupuncture works by using thin needles to gently stimulate specific nerve endings and muscle fibres to encourage the body’s natural healing response.

Research has shown that acupuncture can help reduce symptoms of a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, stress and anxiety, migraines and headaches, IBS and women’s health issues such as menstrual cramps.

Acupuncture has been a key pillar of traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and modern research has also started exploring its potential benefits during pregnancy.

Some studies suggest that acupuncture may help shorten the length of labour, reduce the need for intervention and support the body’s natural readiness for birth.

At Essendon Natural Health, our experienced acupuncturists understand that every pregnancy journey is different and are trained to develop treatment plans that support your body, your baby and your individual preferences.
