Windy Hill Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy is supporting an exciting research project aimed at identifying the beliefs and experiences of women with chronic pelvic pain in relation to current clinical management guidelines.

This study will look to highlight where targeted education is required for health practitioners, community, and patients. Knowledge of the standard care expected to be provided from the patient's perspective is essential in providing patient-centred care and improving management and outcomes for this cohort.

If you have experienced or are experiencing pelvic pain, you can find further details on the study and how to participate in the flyer below :)

Coronavirus COVID-19 update:

The team at Windy Hill Physiotherapy would like to reach out to you in this uncertain and concerning time. We hope you are all keeping well and safe. We would like to thank you all for your continued support of the clinic over many years, and your current understanding in these strange circumstances.

Although the clinic is still open if you do not feel comfortable attending the clinic in person, we have started to use Telehealth video consultations as a way to continue high quality physiotherapy care to all our clients. Sessions will involve a 30 minute online video consultation with your physiotherapist to assess and treat your injury, or continue your current physiotherapy care. Our consultations of this nature will be $60 and include video consultation with your physiotherapist, personalised rehabilitation program and follow up in App messaging. Additionally, private health funds are fast tracking access for members to tele-physiotherapy consultations while Australians’ movements are restricted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
This means that from the 14th of April several private health funds have agreed to provide benefits for individual (one on one) physiotherapy tele-consultations where:

- The customer is undergoing an existing course of treatment and the customer has seen the physiotherapist over the past six months, or
- For new patients, the tele-physiotherapy service has been recommended by their general practitioner or relevant medical specialist, and
- The primary condition being treated is one of:
1. Post orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation (e.g. Total hip or knee replacement)
2. Chronic musculoskeletal condition (e.g. osteoarthritis)
3. Pelvic floor muscle training

We look forward to continuing to provide you and your family with your physiotherapy needs in a Safe and Healthy Environment and we will keep you informed of any changes to our provision of these services. If you have any questions regarding any of this information, or you are keen to explore Telehealth, please call the clinic on 9375-4000 or click on the link below:

Take care and best wishes from all of us at Windy Hill Physiotherapy.

Telehealth video consultations are available for all of our physiotherapists at Windy Hill Physiotherapy, including our Rehabilitation and Pilates Physiotherapist, Melissa George.

In this really confusing and scary time we just wanted to inform you that the Windy Hill Physiotherapy clinic is still open and we are more than happy to see you and continue your physiotherapy care.

Your health and safety is of optimal importance, therefore we have increased our already high hygiene protocols at the clinic. There are currently hand sanitisers in every room and at the reception desk, alcohol wipes in every room that are being used to clean equipment between patients or classes. This includes wiping down massage beds, gym and pilates equipment and any other resources we may use. In addition we are screening our patients before they attend the clinic to minimise the chance of virus exposure to any personnel, staff or clients.

We are also asking you to help us out by washing your hands before and after visiting the clinic to help protect other patients and prevent the spread of germs. This is asked of both clients and those accompanying them. In addition if you are experiencing any symptoms such as a cough, fever or shortness of breath please notify us and seek clearance from a doctor.

Remember to stay calm and wash your hands. We look forward to seeing you in the clinic soon :)

If you want more detailed information on the virus, below is a link to the World Health Organisation information page.

Unfortunately one of the downsides of sport is injury. At Windy Hill Physio we recognise the importance of injury prevention programs in not only reducing the risk of injury but maximising performance. The rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is becoming increasingly common and is often devastating for athletes. Such injuries often occur due to sudden changes in direction or landing from a jump. This means the implementation of training that improves the mechanics of landing, take off and change of direction is essential in minimising the risk of ACL injuries.

Netball Australia has developed a Knee program, which is an on court warm up designed to enhance movement efficiency and prevent knee injuries. No matter if you are the coach of your child’s netball team, a high performance coach or parent the program is designed to keep your players on court for longer and to maximise their efficiency when playing.

The AFL and AFLW have teamed up with experts in coaching and sports medicine to create two injury prevention programs. Both FootyFirst and Prep to Play support athletes of all levels with the aim to improve skills, strength, athletic performance and ultimately reduce injury.

Windy Hill Physiotherapy is partnering with Latrobe university to lead GLA:D (Good Life with Arthritis), an education and exercise program for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common lifestyle diseases in individuals 65 years and older and can also effect individuals as young as 30. Despite the usual focus on surgery for treatment in Australia, GLA:D offers a safer and easier alternative. Not only can you improve joint stability in group training sessions, GLA:D helps you apply the exercise to everyday activities by strengthening and correcting daily movement patterns and in turn preventing symptom progression and ultimately reducing pain.

To find out more about GLA:D and how it can help you call our friendly reception staff on 9375 4000 or visit the GLA:D website, https://gladaustralia.com.au/.
