Why aren’t you falling pregnant when all your tests are “normal”?

This is something we see all the time.

“Normal” results don’t always mean your body is truly optimised for conception. Standard testing often uses broad reference ranges and can miss key drivers like blood sugar balance, stress, inflammation, nutrient status, thyroid function and gut health, all of which play a role in ovulation and implantation.

At AF Health, our clinical naturopaths Summer and Kelly take a deeper, personalised approach to fertility care, looking beyond the basics to understand what your body truly needs.

If you’d like support understanding your cycle and optimising your fertility, book a 15 minute discovery call today.

If you’re planning a pregnancy, what you do before you conceive matters more than you might think đŸ€

We often recommend around 3 months of preconception care, because both egg and s***m quality take about 90 days to develop. That means the small, consistent choices you make now can have a real impact on your fertility and future pregnancy.

This is a powerful window to:
- Support hormone balance
- Replenish key nutrients
- Stabilise blood sugar
- Reduce inflammation
- Manage stress
- Optimise your cycle health

It’s not about perfection, it’s about creating the best possible foundation for your body to thrive.

If you’re not sure where to start, or want personalised guidance for your fertility journey, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

This month at AF Health, we’re focusing on fertility, preconception and postnatal support đŸ€

Supporting your body through this season goes far beyond pregnancy alone. The months leading up to conception and the time after birth are just as important for your hormones, recovery and overall wellbeing.

You might be experiencing irregular cycles, feeling run down, struggling with conception, or finding the postpartum period more challenging than expected. These are all signs your body may need deeper support.

Our approach is about understanding your body and working with it, not against it.

Throughout the month, our clinical naturopaths Summer and Kelly are focusing on personalised care tailored to where you’re at. This can include hormone support, improving egg and s***m quality, nourishing your body for pregnancy and supporting postnatal recovery, energy and mood.

No matter what stage you’re in, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Bookings are open đŸ€

Meet Rebecca, our newest naturopath here at AF Health đŸ€

Rebecca works across a wide range of conditions including hormonal imbalances, digestive concerns, mental health and chronic pain.

Her passion for naturopathy is deeply personal. After navigating her own health challenges, she understands what it feels like to not be heard or fully supported by a practitioner.

That experience is what drives her to show up differently for her clients, with empathy, care and a genuine commitment to helping you feel seen and understood.

Rebecca takes a holistic, functional and evidence-based approach. She focuses on uncovering the root cause of your symptoms and creating personalised treatment plans that feel realistic and sustainable.

Fun fact: you’ll often find her outdoors hiking, bushwalking or kayaking in her spare time.

We’re so excited to have her as part of the team

PCOS isn’t just about irregular periods

It can show up in ways many women don’t immediately connect:

Jawline acne
Thinning hair or excess facial hair
Cravings and energy crashes
Difficulty losing weight
Anxiety or mood swings

If you’re experiencing more than one of these, it might be worth looking a little deeper

PCOS is complex, but with the right support, things can start to make a lot more sense

If you have PCOS, it can feel overwhelming knowing where to start.

The truth is, you don’t need to do everything at once. In fact, focusing on a few key foundations often makes the biggest difference.

Think simple habits you can actually stick to
Eating enough protein
Moving your body in a way that supports your hormones
Balancing your blood sugar
Getting quality sleep
And supporting your gut and stress levels

These aren’t quick fixes, but they are powerful.

PCOS is complex, but your approach doesn’t have to be. Small, consistent changes can shift a lot over time.

Start with what feels doable and build from there

Supporting Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome naturally doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

These 6 evidence-backed supplements can help target some of the key drivers of PCOS like insulin resistance, hormone imbalances and inflammation:

Inositol to support insulin sensitivity and ovulation
Omega 3s to calm inflammation and support hormone balance
Vitamin D to support mood, hormones and insulin function
NAC to assist with ovulation and metabolic health
Magnesium to support blood sugar, stress and sleep
Zinc for hormone regulation and skin health

While supplements can be helpful, they work best alongside the foundations. Nourishing meals, regular movement, quality sleep and managing stress all play a role.

PCOS is never one-size-fits-all, which is why personalised support can make such a difference.

Endometriosis isn’t caused by oestrogen, but it’s highly responsive to it.

Oestrogen can fuel the growth and activity of endometrial-like tissue, which can increase inflammation, pain, and other symptoms.

It’s not just about the amount of oestrogen. It’s about how your body handles it:
‱ How your liver metabolises and clears oestrogen
‱ How your gut eliminates it
‱ How inflammation is managed
‱ Progesterone balance alongside oestrogen

When oestrogen clearance is slowed or gut health is off, it can recirculate, adding to symptom load. Supporting detox pathways, gut health, and blood sugar balance can help your body respond better over time.

Endo care isn’t about suppressing your body. It’s about supporting it.

Vitamin D and endometriosis ☀

Endometriosis isn’t just about periods. It’s an inflammatory, immune-driven condition and vitamin D plays a much bigger role here than most people realise.

Vitamin D helps regulate immune function, modulate inflammation and support healthy cell growth. When levels are low, we often see increased inflammatory signalling and immune dysregulation, both of which can influence pain and lesion activity.

Research has also linked low vitamin D status with more severe endometriosis symptoms in some women. While it’s not a cure, optimising levels can be an important piece of the bigger picture.

We always recommend testing rather than guessing. The goal is optimal, not excessive.

If you have endometriosis and haven’t checked your vitamin D recently, it might be worth exploring as part of your overall plan.

If you’re looking for personalised support, we’re here to help đŸ€
