This week we had the privilege of attending a professional development day with Dr Naomi Rutten, our local Mental Health GP.

Naomi guided our team through the complexity of human behaviour and the practical skills needed when working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Topics included:

• The Neurobiology and Psychology of Behaviour – understanding the physical and psychological drivers of behaviour

• The Impact of Trauma, Adversity and Neurodevelopment – particularly in relation to veterans and complex presentations

• Healthy Communication – self-regulation, co-regulation and safe language within our scope of practice

• Self-Care and Burnout Prevention – recognising our own wellbeing and developing strategies to prevent burnout

This training provided invaluable insight into how we can continue to support our community safely and effectively.

A big thank you to Naomi for sharing her knowledge and passion with our team.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Ryan is our Director and Exercise Physiologist. Although he owns and manages the clinics, he still enjoys working with clients and can be seen helping in the gym 5 days a week.

While raising two small children with his wife - our physiotherapist Jo - he's had time to get his first novel published. On Jan 15, he will be in a live Q & A for his SA-based thriller, Fostered Minds. Please arrive by 5:45pm for debrief and warm-up.
Training Plan:
• Relays – U8 and up
• Long Jump – Tiny Tots to U7 (not involved in relays)
• High Jump
• Discus
• Speed & Plyo – the crowd favourite!

Activities may be adjusted depending on weather conditions.

MEET THE TEAM

Justin graduated in 2017 from Latrobe University in Bendigo.

Justin has since been working in private practice in Victoria and the last 4 years in Adelaide. After working with running related injuries and pain during activity over his career, he has developed skills around footwear, orthotics and many other treatments. His focus is to accurately diagnose to allow clients to have a tailored treatment path.

If your feet have been giving you grief, Justin can assist at our Hyde and Partners clinic.
