Have you noticed an increase in your grocery prices? I have, and I feel like I can be pretty savvy on finding ways to make less into more but I have noticed a substantial increase on my weekly grocery spending.
My husbands take on this was simple - no more organic, no more fancy stuff, no more free range 🤣🤣🤣. Well, let's say I didn't quite agree BUT I think there are definitely smart ways to be more money conscious and not give up my years of building good habits to save a few dollars.

Have you ever heard of the Dirty Dozen and the Clean 15? The Environmental Working Group, which is a non-for profit organization aimed at protecting human health and the environment, write a yearly list of each. These are foods that either you
🍓DEFINATELY want to eat ORGANIC - as the amount of pesticide residue left on the fruit or vegetable can be harmful OR
🥑you DON'T need to eat organic as the pesticide residue left on them is a lot smaller or non existent then the dirty dozen.

Winter Soups

I am a soup lover, I actually had soup for breakfast and lunch on Sunday 🤣🤣

This is my favourite of the week
Capsicum and carrot with goats cheese
🫑 3 red capsicum
🧅 1 brown onion
🥕 3 carrots
🧄 3 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon ghee
1 tablespoon bone broth powder
Goats cheese

Heat ghee in pot, add onion and sweat down (cook on low heat till almost transparent)
Add rough chopped carrot, capsicum and garlic. Cook for 3 minutes.

Cover with water and add broth powder.
Simmer for 10 minutes and blitz/blend till smooth.
Add goats cheese on top when serving.

I got 4 portions out of this and it is delicious 🤤

Raspberry muffins 🧡💛 GF DF

1 cup almond meal
1/2 cup dedicated coconut
2 heaped tablespoons buckwheat flour
2 heaped tablespoons GF self raising flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean
Decent pinch of salt

2 ripe bananas 🍌 - mush up till quite smooth
4 tablespoons coconut oil
3/4 cup plain yoghurt (I used vanilla coconut yoghurt to keep it dairy free)
3 eggs
2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup

36-48 Raspberries

Mix all dry ingredients together
Mix all wet ingredients together

Line a 12 whole muffin tray with papers or oil. Add half the mix into the tray, place 1-2 raspberries in each cup then add the rest of the mix, top with remaining raspberries.

Cook on 200 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes, turn if you need to then cook for further 10 minutes.

Store in the fridge

When your just not sure what to have for lunch……. Sauté vegetables and some fried eggs. It doesn’t have to be fancy, what’s in your fridge? Chop it up, add some salt, pepper, herbs and garlic while your cooking your vegetables in olive oil, then crack some eggs on top when your almost finished 🧡💛🍑

White bean and mushroom soup 🍄

Soak 120gm white beans in water over night, rinsing once.
To cook, rinse old water and put in pan covered with water and cook on low heat till soft.

Sauté 1 onion, 1 clove garlic and 7 mushrooms in a little bit ghee.

Add in 60gm of turnip (to add some extra depth).

Once mushroom mix is sautéed add the soft beans and liquid into the same pot, add in dried 10gm porcini mushrooms and let simmer for 15 minutes.

Add some salt and pepper and blitz.
If you would like it thinner you can add some extra water or stock in.

Delicious and a little bit decadent with the porcini as well ☺️

Protein comes from all different places. Don't forget your lentils, chickpeas, mung bean, chia seeds, kidney beans, and the list goes on. It's easy to just have meat for every meal if you don't know how to prepare or cook legumes but they offer an assortment of different nutrients as well and shouldn't be forgotten. My next blog on my website will be talking about how to prepare these protein packed goodies in a way that is delicious.🍑

Tomorrow’s premade dinner Shiitake mushroom, radicchio, fennel, parsley, dill, radish and broccoli with a heathy sprinkle of salt and pepper. Fridays at our house are crazy - work and school- then swimming then little athletics, I leave the house at 4:30am and don’t get back home to finish the day until 7:20pm 😴
If I’m not prepared with meals then I either get h-angry or just eat whatever’s about.
So Thursday nights are all about preparation. An hour of power to get dinner and the whole next day all prepared. I actually love it, I challenge myself with how quick I can be 🧡💛🍑

I recently completed my practitioner training for the amazing program Metabolic Balance - a game changer for hormonal balance, blood sugar regulation and inflammation, with a healthy side of weight loss 😉. Step one for me is putting it into place in my own life. So here I go 🤩. My plan is done and I’m putting together my rough guide for the next two weeks of meals so I know exactly what I’m doing. There are so many uses in your body for Protein. These are merely only two aspects of that - Hormones and Neurotransmitters. There are so many people who don't know that they aren't consuming enough protein in their diet, and have no idea of the broad range of effects that can have on the body. Simply consuming more protein may no be all that is needed either. You need to make sure your body is breaking down and using that protein effectively also. Keep an eye out and I'll give you some tips on how to include more protein in the diet and hints to ensure your body is using it well.
