"Nhà Alwan – Colours of Home" – Refugee Week Workshops

Across 2 weeks, we'll celebrate the stories of refugee mothers and their children through two creative workshops with artist Anney Bounpraseuth where, together, we will share stories and create a large, beautiful artwork made up of various fabrics (an applique) that will be displayed at Powerhouse Youth Theatre for the community to see.

Our Disability Advisory Group brings clients and families together to co-design Fair Foundations' disability services to ensure our support reflects the needs of each individual participant as well as their interests.

In providing a space to connect while sharing in-person feedback, we strengthen our services and amplify the voices of our participants.

Last week, we celebrated Youth Week 2026 through Culture Beats 2026, three afternoons full of energy and connection.

Across the week, young people came together to meet new people, try new activities, and experience different cultures in a way that felt fun and welcoming.

One of the most rewarding parts was seeing how quickly connections formed. Many young people arrived on their own, not part of a team, but by the end of each day they were joining in, cheering each other on, and stepping outside their comfort zones with confidence.

Each day brought something unique:
• Pasifika Day featured a special visit from Jesse Sene-Lefao (founder of Talk Your Walk Foundation and former NRL player and super league player), alongside a high-energy volleyball competition
• Middle Eastern Culture Day included a drumming workshop and performance, followed by soccer games that encouraged teamwork and friendly competition
• Asian Culture Day showcased lion dancing, with young people having fun learning the movements with the lion heads and playing the drums, before finishing the week with a lively basketball competition.

Whether it was trying new foods, learning something new or getting involved in the sports and games, the event created real opportunities for connection and confidence to grow.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making the week such a positive experience.

Participants are leading the way to May.

From fishing and park visits to bowling and koi farms, as well as in-centre activities like pottery, baking, BBQs, and cultural experiences including African crafts and Aboriginal arts.

Our program is shaped by our participants, with activities and outings based on their interests, and this month is no different.

Looking for a place to unwind after school, connect with others, or try something new?

This May, our Youth Drop-In Service has a full lineup of basketball, volleyball, and soccer, plus weekly 1-on-1 employment support and competitions including 3-point shootouts, volleyball, soccer, and table tennis.

If you're a young person aged 12–24, our Youth Drop-In Service is a safe, welcoming space to hang out, get active, and access support when needed.

School holidays, done right

From hands-on pottery to up-close reptile encounters, our recent School Holiday Programs were full of moments that sparked curiosity, confidence and connection.

But what makes it truly special is this: our programs are shaped by children’s voices. We listen to what they enjoy, what they want to try, and what excites them, then build each program to reflect their interests.

That’s why no two days are the same. Across our three locations, children experienced a mix of excursions, incursions and onsite activities designed to keep them engaged, active and having fun in a safe environment. It’s more than school holidays. It’s new skills, new friendships, and memories to last a lifetime.
