Sandra Morris Craniosacral - The Baby and Body Whisperer Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
Gentle, supportive touch to help the
nervous system soften and reset. Supporting mums, babies & children 🤍

I am a registered Craniosacral Therapist who treats Pregnant, Overwhelmed Mums, Babies and Young Children who are struggling to be healthy and happy, due to problems with sleep, feeding, stress and development. Using a specialised touch gives deep whole body relaxation whilst decreasing trauma and stress. This allows the nervous system and body to move from Survival mode to Rest and Self Repair, which guides the process of healing to unfold at a pace that honours the body as a whole. Transformation is possible.

If your days feel full of constant “doing” and very little rest…
there’s a soft place to pause.

I work with mums and their little ones in a calm, gentle way — not by fixing, pushing, or trying to control outcomes.
My approach is rooted in listening to the body, supporting the nervous system, and creating a space where you can feel safe, seen, and understood.

Through my one-on-one sessions and Gentle Mum workshops, I help you:
• Soften tension in your body
• Support your little one's nervous system
• Feel held, understood, and not judged or pressured

Everything I do is guided by the belief that calm, connection, and confidence emerge when the body feels safe, not when you try harder.

If this feels like the support you’ve been waiting for,
you’re warmly invited to join a Gentle Mum workshop or reach out for a one-on-one session. 💛

I don’t fix babies.
I support nervous systems.

I help babies, children, and mums who feel overwhelmed —
by sleep struggles, constant crying, feeding challenges, or separation anxiety.

The work is gentle, slow, and body-led.
It’s not about “doing it right” or training a child to override their signals.

Research increasingly shows what many parents feel intuitively:
when the nervous system feels safe and supported, the whole body can settle more easily.

One clinical study of Craniosacral Therapy used in primary healthcare found that people of all ages — including infants, children, and adults — reported significant decreases in symptom intensity, lower disability, and improved quality of life after Craniosacral Therapy.

This aligns with how I work. By prioritising safety, presence, and connection, the body can move out of constant alertness and into rest. When a baby’s body feels settled, the whole family often feels softer.

And when a mum’s body feels safe, she can finally breathe again.

I became a mum and thought I had to be strong all the time.
My body — and my baby — gently showed me otherwise.

In the early days, I smiled through exhaustion and told myself I should be coping better.
Outwardly I looked “fine,” but inside there was a quiet tension I couldn’t explain.

What I didn’t yet understand was how much our bodies communicate beneath the surface. Babies feel what we feel — long before we can put it into words.

As I slowed down and began listening differently, something shifted.
Being held, supported, and truly listened to softened things in a way striving never had.

It was during my own healing journey, guided by a therapist who helped me understand the depth of my birth experience, that I truly began to see how much it shaped me — my body, my emotions, and how I mothered.

That experience changed how I see motherhood. That’s why I show up for mums the way I wish someone had shown up for me.

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that helps support both your and your baby’s nervous system, so the body can soften, gently exhale and rest in deep sleep.

New motherhood makes your brain never shut off due to hormonal shifts, intense neural rewiring and prioritizing baby’s needs (like danger detection via the amygdala, sleep deprivation and the sheer mental load of constant readiness, creating a state of hyper-vigilance that feels like your mind is always “on” for the baby’s safety and needs. This isn’t just brain fog; your brain is physically adapting to bond and protect, but the constant alert as and lack of rest keeps you wired.

🗂️Why the Brain Won’t “Shut Off”

Severe sleep deprivation triggers a persistent stress response cycle that keeps the brain in a state of high alert.

📑Hyper-Vigilance: Lack of sleep leads to hyperactivity in the amygdala, the brain’s emotional and threat-detection center. This creates a state of “on-call”alertness, where the brain remains hyper-sensitive to infant cues (like a quiet whimper) even during rest.

📑HPA Axis Dysregulation: Chronic exhaustion overactivates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, causing elevated cortisol levels. This biochemical stress keeps the body in “survival mode”, making it physically difficult to relax or fall into deep sleep when given the chance.

đź“‘Postpartum Insomnia: Sudden drops in progesterone (which has a calming, sedative effect) and estrogen (which helps regulate the time it takes to fall asleep) can lead to clinical insomnia, where the mind continues to race despite extreme physical fatigue.

🗂️Other Major Effects of New Motherhood on the Brain:

Beyond sleep loss, the transition to motherhood (often called matrescence) involves a profound biological “upgrading” of the brain.

📑Synaptic Pruning: First-time mothers experience a significant reduction in gray matter in regions responsible for social cognition. Rather than a loss of function, this is a “pruning” process that makes the brain more efficient at bonding and understanding a newborn’s nonverbal cues.

📑Enhanced Sensitivity: The brain’s reward centers (driven by dopamine and oxytocin) become more active, making interactions with the baby feel intensely rewarding. This helps ensure the mother prioritizes caregiving over other basic needs like food or rest.
