Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Strength & Conditioning - what’s the difference?
This is a question I still struggle with all these years into my career because it’s not as simple or straightforward as some might think. Certainly not as straightforward as summarising it in a social media post! But we’re going to try.
Exercise Physiology - allied health professionals who specialise in designing and implementing evidence-based and individualised exercise and lifestyle interventions to help manage/treat chronic health conditions, injuries and disabilities.
Physiotherapy - allied health professionals who assess and treat/manage physical impairment, injuries and disability. They utilise a variety of evidence-based techniques to help restore movement and function, alleviate pain and prevent further injury.
S&C - work with athletes across various sports, helping them to optimise their performance, prevent injury, and improve sport-specific skills and fitness using evidence-based and tailored training programs.
