At Finley Regional Care, we’re committed to ensuring residents have access to important allied health services that support comfort, independence and quality of life.

Our visiting optometrist, Aeman, will continue monthly appointments throughout 2026, helping residents maintain healthy vision and eye care.

We’re also looking forward to welcoming Broadway Smiles Dentist back again soon, providing dental checks and minor treatments on site — making oral health care more accessible and convenient for residents.

These regular visits play an important role in supporting overall health and wellbeing, right here at home. 👓🦷

✨ Exciting clinical upgrades are coming to Finley Regional Care in 2026!

We’re introducing new vital signs monitoring equipment, including updated trolleys with blood pressure machines, pulse oximeters, blood sugar monitors, thermometers and iPads. Results will be recorded instantly, reducing paperwork and minimising errors, which means more time for our team to focus on what matters most: quality time and care with residents.

We’re also trialling innovative pressure-monitoring mattresses designed to detect high-risk areas early and help significantly reduce pressure sores — supporting greater comfort and wellbeing.

And to top it off, our visiting dietitian Jodie will be on site monthly, working closely with residents and our kitchen team to ensure meals are both nutritious, seasonal and enjoyable.

A wonderful year of improved care, comfort and support is ahead! 💙

Valentine’s Day in aged care – Celebrating love in all its forms

Valentine’s Day is often associated with roses, romantic dinners, and love letters. But in an aged care community, the meaning of Valentine’s Day can become something even richer – a reminder that love is not limited to romance, but exists in many forms throughout our lives.

At Finley Regional Care, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate connection, kindness, and the relationships that make life meaningful at every stage. Whether it’s the bond between lifelong partners, the friendship between residents, or the care shared between staff and families, love is present in countless ways within our community:

Looking ahead – Goals for 2026

As we look ahead to an exciting year at Finley Regional Care, we’re proud to be investing in new initiatives that will continue to enhance the care, connection and wellbeing of our residents.

Here’s a glimpse of what we’re excited about this year:

🔷 Upgraded equipment: We’re introducing new Propel Health and vital-sign equipment to improve how we capture and record health information for residents
🔷 Staff development: Professional development remains a key focus to ensure our team continues leading best practice in aged care
🔷 Community engagement: We’ll continue building strong relationships with local groups, schools and businesses to strengthen community involvement

We’re looking forward to a year filled with positive progress, meaningful moments, and continued growth as we work together to support our residents and community.

Stay tuned for more exciting things to come this year!

This month, our merger with Biralee Preschool will take place. This partnership will support long-term growth, sustainability and strengthened governance for the preschool – while keeping what makes Biralee special firmly in place.

Biralee will continue to operate as a community-based, not-for-profit service. Daily operations will still be led by Director and Nominated Supervisor, Ellen, and Business Administration Manager, Melissa, who remain available to support families and staff.

Need care? We have places available across our services!

We currently have places available in our residential home for those needing ongoing care. Our Complete Care service also has capacity for people needing support at home or elsewhere, and our medical centres are welcoming new patients. Please feel free to share this with anyone in the community who may benefit.

We hit the ground running in January with lots of activities on for the residents! They tried out sandpainting and bookmark making in arts and craft. They also had lots of fun having a hit of golf on the green in the activities room.

Bingo was back after a two-week hiatus, and all residents attending are enjoying resident John reading out the bingo numbers.

The Amazing Race came to Finley where our residents were separated into teams and competed in a scavenger hunt around the facility. The Finley Fillies took home first place and a $10 voucher for the facility shop.

The resident singing group has been such a joy that we have started holding it twice a month. We are now trying our hands with Frere Jacques and singing it in rounds – challenging but rewarding!

We wrapped up the month with an Australia Day BBQ and a concert, which was very much enjoyed by all residents.

Australia Day at Finley Regional Care: honouring the past, celebrating today 🇦🇺

Australia Day gives us a moment to pause and reflect on the experiences, resilience, and stories of our residents. Many have lived through defining moments in Australia’s history — and their perspectives are invaluable.

This Australia Day, we’re celebrating together with conversation, connection, and a sense of community. Because aged care is about more than support — it’s about respect, recognition, and belonging.

Respite care – Support for carers

Caring for someone you love is rewarding — but it can also be exhausting. 💛That’s where respite care comes in.

At Finley Regional Care, respite care offers short-term stays in a safe, supportive environment, giving carers the chance to rest, recharge, or attend to other commitments – with complete peace of mind.

A little time out can make a big difference – for everyone involved. Because caring works best when carers are supported too.

Staying connected: why social bonds matter in aged care

Happy New Year! While many of us are dusting off our planners and making ambitious resolutions, one goal often overlooked in the hustle of January is staying socially connected – especially for older Australians. At Finley Regional Care, we know that friendships, conversation, and laughter are just as important as exercise, nutrition, and health check-ups. In fact, studies show that strong social connections can improve mental health, reduce the risk of dementia, and even boost longevity.

Let’s explore why social interaction matters and how residents, families, and carers can nurture meaningful connections in 2026.
