Do you have a practice that helps you feel truly comfortable in your own skin? 🌿

I never thought that was possible until I took my first Ashtanga Yoga class in London, 1997. I was in my mid-20s, working as a nurse and my Iyengar teacher suggested I try Ashtanga with while they were on extended leave.
I’d never heard of Ashtanga Yoga, so I showed up to a led class. I was totally confused (!), yet utterly captivated by the flowing movements, breath connection, and that rare sense of embodiment. I was hooked! 💫

So, I signed up for John’s weekend beginner’s course, then committed myself Mysore - style classes 5 day/wk. By year’s end I was on my way to Mysore, South India to practice with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharath. The shala was also their family home, I felt welcomed and had a profound sense of acceptance and being seen exactly as I am. It was quite amazing. This feeling plus the love of Ashtanga Yoga and the process kept me returning to Mysore and to my teachers for the next 20 years.

Through sharing this practice I aim to pass on what I have learnt from my teachers and my years of experience. Acceptance, perseverance, dedication and devotion and of course, the inspiration to keep stepping onto the mat and see what unfolds.

I’ll be teaching a Beginner’s workshop this Saturday, 6th September, 3 - 4.30pm up at West End Hall here in Castlemaine.

Spring Yoga Challenge at Ashtanga Yoga Castlemaine!
1st - 27th September

Spring is in the air. Take the opportunity to harness this uplifting energy within yourself by committing to a consistent yoga practice in September.
Accept the challenge and come along to 10 classes from the 1st - 27th September.
Morning Tea - Saturday, the 27th. Following class, we will come together for a chat, chai & morning tea. Everyone welcome!

When we commit to simply showing up as we are, nothing more or less, practice becomes a gift to ourselves which has the potential to bring clarity into our daily activities. Also, you just feel good!

This challenge is open to all students of all levels, beginners are very welcome.
*Students who complete the challenge will receive 10% off their next pass :)

I’ll be teaching my monthly Melbourne Mysore class and conference this Sunday at Glow Dance in North Fitzroy, 8-10am.

Come and warm yourself from the inside out on this winter solstice weekend. Now is the perfect time to focus internally on our breath, steady ourselves and through our practice feel and embody our connection with all beings everywhere.

A blurry Marichyasana C on a chilly morning in Castlemaine.

I am forever grateful that I have this practice so that I can be responsible for my own well-being, strengthen my physical and subtle body and just have the agency to be fully here, present to what is happening.
It’s gotten cold here in Castlemaine, but that doesn’t mean I don’t practise. Now is the time I need it more, to move my blood, decrease stagnation and feel good about being alive.
Beat the winter blues, keep up your practice! 🥰🙏

This will be a practical workshop looking at technique, benefits, sequencing and how this beautiful sequence of vinyasa and asana can bring steadiness and ease into our daily life.

Are you curious about the practice and path of Ashtanga yoga? Would you like to build a sustainable yoga practice to support and nourish you on a daily basis?

I’m teaching a 1.5hr Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga this Sunday at West End Hall here in Castlemaine. This workshop is perfect for anyone curious about Ashtanga yoga and would like to learn more about the benefits of regular yoga practice and how to start. No experience is necessary! It will also benefit those who have had a break from practice and would like to reconnect with their practice.

I’ve been teaching Ashtanga yoga for over 24 years and have probably introduced 100’s of people to this beautiful practice. I love sharing what I love and what has nourished and supported me throughout my adult life. I hope to see you there! 🙏

We will work with our breath and postures in the vinyasa format to quieten the mind and strengthen the nervous system and physical body.
