From Origin to Icons

DITA Design Director, Mike, reflects on his early path into eyewear design, beginning with learning how to cut and tint lenses, then evolving into designing his first frame, MARQUIS.

As his understanding of design and manufacturing grew, so did his vision. What began as a single frame expanded into defining franchises, including the GRANDMASTER Series, MACH Series, STATESMAN Series and FLIGHT Series.

With success came a new perspective. The instinct to preserve what works, and the hesitation to alter something already proven.

That mindset would shift over time, revealing a simple truth. When a design resonates beyond expectation, it does not end there, it continues.

Thierry Lasry is for those who honour their self-identity. A French designer raised in Paris by an optician father and a designer mother, Thierry channelled a childhood passion for geometric shapes, colour, and the worlds of LEGO and Astroboy into a collection of eyewear that is entirely his own.

Each piece is handmade using the finest Italian acetate from renowned manufacturer Mazzucchelli 1849, layered and sculpted into retro-inspired shapes with a futuristic twist. There are no logos, no engravings – the design is the signature. Confident, elegant, and always with a hint of surprise.

Worn by Beyoncé, Kate Moss, Lenny Kravitz, and Rihanna, Thierry Lasry has built a following among those who understand that the right frames say everything without saying a word.

Gertrude Street Yoga has been part of the Fitzroy community since the ’90s — a family-run space centred on movement, mindfulness, and connection. Their offering spans dynamic and slow flow classes, yin, meditation, and mat pilates, alongside workshops, trainings, and holistic treatments through their wellness centre.

Housed in the old Johnson Furniture Building, the studio feels warm and lived-in with timber floors, soft natural light, and a sense of calm that lingers long after you leave.

Congratulations to friend, client and the designer behind our Gertrude Street showroom, David Flack, and the team at Flack Studio on being named part of the Esteemed 10 by Est Living.

Described as “effortless, honest and energetic,” David’s approach treats interiors as an emotional art form – spaces that balance calm with stimulation, refinement with surprise. It’s a philosophy we’re lucky to experience every day in the showroom he brought to life here on Gertrude Street.

Seekers Support x HoMie

Founded in 2015, HoMie is a not-for-profit streetwear label on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, using fashion to tackle youth homelessness. Through their Pathway Alliance paid internship and monthly VIP Days – where young people shop for free in a genuinely welcoming space – HoMie helps young people build confidence, skills, and a path forward. 100% of their profits go directly towards their mission.
