Dynamic, fun & unique creative dance & yoga classes in Footscray led by qualified creative dance & yoga teacher/visual artist Lisa Sommerlad.

Joyful, friendly and inspiring Creative Dance & Yoga classes for parents and toddlers, pre-schoolers, preppies and primary aged children- sessions are friendly, non-competitive and non-gender specific. Creative dance has its foundations in yoga and encourages self-awareness, self-expression and artistic exploration of the senses. Uplifting music, thematic props and gentle guidance combine to create an environment in which young dancers can develop and learn through dance, yoga, art & music. Timetable for Term 1 2021 starts Monday 1st February:-

Mon 5:20-6:20 8yrs+
Wed 9:30-10:15 Preschoolers 3-5yrs
Thu 9:30-10:15 Toddlers 18mth-U3yrs + Adult
Thu 10:30-11:15 Preschoolers 3-5yrs
Fri 9:30-10:15 Preschoolers 3-5yrs
Fri 4:10-5:00 Kids Yoga 5yrs+
Sat 9:00 -10:00 Adult Yoga at Tea Gardens Reserve- beginners
welcome! Creative Dance & Yoga classes are currently $15 for toddlers & $17 for preschoolers & above ,including trials, on a casual basis. Term enrolment is absolutely encouraged, but with CovidSAFE restrictions currently in place, is not a requirement. Yoga classes for kids & adults are $15 on a casual basis
Private yoga classes for families, children with special needs, as recommended by OTs or small groups are available by appointment. To book a trial or enrol, please contact Lisa with your child's name, age and preferred class. Lisa 0431590109

🌺🌺🌺 As some of you may know, weekly Bindu sessions at the studio have been on hiatus for Term 1.
I was able to travel to India on a very special solo pilgrimage that was everything I had imagined and hoped for. The photo above is one of the many beautiful Goddess temples I visited in West Bengal - notice the rainbow slinkies - very Bindu!
This time has also allowed for a resurgence in my visual arts practice commitment,
which has been calling me patiently for my return to a life-long love of painting : )

As much as I dearly miss the community engagement and absolute wonder of our weekly studio classes,
my priority at this time is to allow energy for other projects wishing to emerge more fully.
Needing to let you know that a weekly schedule of Bindu Creative Dance sessions and monthly Dance-Nature nights
at the Footscray studio will not be resuming in Term 2. I’m very sorry to disappoint.
I will be in touch with further updates in the future as it unfolds.

However!
I can be booked for creative dance &/or yoga incursions at kinders & schools, along with 1:1 customised sessions, for all ages and abilities.
1:1 and family sessions can be at the studio or home-based.
My specialty is in sessions that integrate creativity, imagination, curiosity & playfulness in collaboration with what resonates for participants.
All sessions are neuro-affirming and in compatibility with my dual role as a disability support worker for young people.
Somatic practices offer deep nourishment to the nervous system and are profoundly beneficial.
We all benefit from learning skills in self & co-regulation and exploring embodied awareness.

‘Dance Nature by Candle-light’ is a once monthly ecstatic dance immersion for adults, freeing us into the expansive spaciousness & natural, heart-felt joy of the flow state.
Held at Footscray’s BodyVoice Centre in the atmospheric ambience of the play of shadows & darkness, illumined by the pure flame of traditional diya lamps in the spacious high ceiling studio, we gather to unwind, unfurl & immerse into the welcoming rhythms of breath, heartbeat, body and sound.
With the foundational support of yoga in which we honour the wholeness of being, the dance of bliss in our bodies that is vibration, movement & rhythm... we awaken a remembering of our essential nature -our Dance Nature.
I may offer gentle guidance in moving, breathing & listening to begin- & from there our well-crafted playlist of sonic sweetness will carry you into your own dance nature as you feel it.
Our eclectic ecstatic playlist features a craftily curated selection of world music, tribal rhythms, bhakti beats & electronica - requests are encouraged- let Lisa know your fave track.
We close the session with deep, supine rest in sivasana, and a circle of chai, cookies and chats. Book with Lisa to receive your invite, pay online or at the door.
