Yoorana Gunya Women's Group - Breast Screening Day.
Friday 26th September 9.30am at the Forbes Town Hall.

Join us in raising awareness & showing support to those affected by breast cancer and book your free mammogram with the Breast Screen Van 🩷

🌸 Who should get their breast screened? Women between 50 years - 75 years. Aboriginal women are encouraged between 40 years and 75 years.

🌸 If you are outside of these age brackets, you are encouraged to speak to your GP.

🌸 Please call Dee for more information or to book your mammogram.

Yoorana Gunya & Binaal Billa Family Violence Prevention Legal Service has had Tod training us for First Aid & CPR for years and highly recommend. Thank you Tod Healey First Aid Training for ensuring all staff training is kept up to date. ✅

The girls enjoyed an introduction to the gym space, starting with a warm-up on the machines, stretches, and some weight training. We finished with a healthy morning tea and a great discussion about the benefits of healthy eating and regular exercise for your mental and physical health - with fantastic feedback from the group. It’s National Day of Recognition for Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) and Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs), so we thought we’d give you a bit more insight into what our amazing team does! 🌟

We have almost 50 dedicated AHWs and Aboriginal Health Practitioners AHPs across our District, just like Warren, whose smiling face you see here and our patients see every day.

AHWs and AHPs are a cornerstone of healthcare support for Aboriginal patients, families and communities, and play a vital role in the delivery of culturally safe, responsive and holistic care.

They are often the first point of contact in the health system for our Aboriginal people, and their work is critical to breaking down barriers, supporting care navigation and empowering our communities.

Along with their cultural and community support roles, a number of our AHWs and AHPs are also trained in some clinical skills, helping to deliver multidisciplinary, integrated care across our services.

Their deep community knowledge and ongoing relationships help to build trust and improve health outcomes for our Aboriginal communities, which is an ongoing priority for our District.

By supporting patients in clinical and community settings our AHWs and AHPs play an essential role in ensuring our Aboriginal communities receive care that is effective, high-quality and culturally-safe.
