The Aussie sun doesn’t mess around ☀️
And unfortunately, neither does UV damage.
Our horses aren’t immune to the elements, especially those with pink skin around the nose, eyes and ears. If it can burn us, it can burn them too.
Just the same as with humans, prevention from sun damage is key. By the time you see redness and inflammation or scabbing (like in the image), the skin is already under stress.
An equine safe summer routine looks like this:
✔️ Access to shade (non-negotiable)
✔️ UV/fly masks or summer rugs where needed
✔️ And a horse-safe sun protection product on high UV days (such as Sun Dust)
