February at Our Veterans Haven – We’re Starting the Year with a Bang

February marks the official launch of the year at the Haven, and we’re not easing into it — we’re coming out strong.

This is about reconnection, family, movement, creativity, and community. A fresh year, fresh energy, and plenty happening from the very first week.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to get involved… this is it.

Here’s how February is shaping up:

Mondays – 2, 9, 16, 23
Work Party & Lunch
We roll up our sleeves, get the Haven ready for a big year ahead, and then sit down together for lunch. It’s not about how much you do — it’s about being part of it.

Tuesdays – 3, 10, 17, 24
Yoga with Invisible Injuries | 1000–1100
A chance to slow the mind, loosen the body, and reset for the week. Suitable for all abilities and a great way to build routine early in the year.

Wednesdays – 4, 11, 18, 25
Bowls, Banter & Brews | 0900–1100 @ BARC (RSL Active)
Start the day with movement, laughs, and connection. Whether you’re a seasoned bowler or just there for the banter, you’ll fit right in.

Thursdays – 12, 19, 26
Revive Pilates | 1000–1100
Guided Breathing | 1100–1130
Strength, mobility, and then learning how to properly switch off. A powerful combo to set the tone for the year ahead.

Thursdays – 12 & 26
Peach Pottery Begins | 1300 (RSL Active)
Creativity officially kicks off. No experience needed — just turn up and have a go. It’s about creating, not perfection.

Saturday 14 Feb
Photography 📸 101 – The Basics with Karl
Learn the fundamentals of photography and start capturing the moments that matter. A great skill to carry into the year.

Thursday 26 Feb
Official Opening Day 0900 - 1200

This will mark the formal start of a big year for the Haven. Details to come, but expect connection, celebration, and a strong sense of what this place is all about.

February is about starting strong, building routine, and reminding ourselves we don’t have to do life alone.

Bring family, bring mates, bring yourself — the Haven is open, and 2026 starts here.

None of this happens alone. February is proudly delivered in partnership with RSL Active, Invisible Injuries, and Revive Exercise Physiology, bringing professional support, trusted programs, and a whole lot of heart to the Haven.

MISSION CONTROL SUMMARY
Commander Iain Thomas reports that the 2025–2026 cycle has been nothing short of stellar. SPECIAL SPONSOR MENTION – “REVIVE EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY: FIRST SUPPORTER IN ORBIT”
HASA Mission Control gives special recognition to our very first official sponsor,
Revive Exercise Physiology — the organisation that believed in our mission before the engines had even warmed.
Revive joined the Haven crew at the earliest stage of development, helping establish the physical-fitness and wellbeing foundations that so many of our veterans now rely on. Their support strengthened our core systems, boosted crew morale, and ensured that movement, rehabilitation, and health remained central pillars of our mission.
Revive Exercise Physiology became the first partner to go into orbit with us — the original sponsor who helped ignite the HAVEN launch trajectory.
Mission Control salutes you.
FUNDING & FUEL RESERVES – “MISSION ECONOMICS”
Total Funds Raised: $40,000
Assets & Equipment Acquired: $40,000
Operational Expenditure: $32,000

CREW EXPANSION – “NEW MEMBERS ON BOARD”
A warm welcome to all newly enlisted members joining the OVH mission team. Your energy strengthens our orbit and expands our capacity to support more veterans on their healing journey.

SPECIAL DEDICATION – “HEART OF THE MISSION”
Mission Control acknowledges Cath, whose passion, commitment, and foundational support made this dream possible. This mission began with a vision—one she helped ignite—and now, after intense planning, teamwork, and resilience, the Haven is ready to launch.

VETERANS GLADIATORS – VICTORY SPEECH

“Victory is Ours!”
Ladies and gentlemen, bowlers and banter-masters… what a day!
As Julius Caesar once declared, “Veni, vidi, vici” — we came, we saw, we bowled… and we conquered!
Final score: 65–57!
Well, well, well… looks like the Veterans showed up and showed off! A massive round of applause to the Cockburn Bowling Volunteers for putting up a valiant fight, but it seems our skills (and our banter) proved just a little too much to handle this time around. Better luck next time, folks — and remember, as the great Confucius said, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Start rising… because we’re ready whenever you are!
Banter Club Legends
To the mighty Brew, Biscuits & Banter Crew — take a bow!
Your world-class commentary and biscuit-eating prowess made this victory even sweeter.
As Mark Twain famously said, “Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.”
And today… neither could the Volunteers.
Morning Tea Heroes
A huge thank you to Jo and Lizie for serving up a morning tea worthy of champions.
The food was almost as satisfying as our win — almost!
As Shakespeare wrote, “Good nourishment is the basis of great achievement.”
(…Okay, he didn’t actually say that, but he definitely would have after tasting today’s spread.)
Until Next Time
We came, we saw, we bowled.
But fear not, dear Volunteers — there’s always next year to try and even the score.
As Rocky Balboa says, “It ain’t about how hard you hit… it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
So keep moving forward… straight back to the practice green. We’ll be waiting.
In Closing
Thanks to everyone for making this event a true celebration of camaraderie, competition, connection, and community.
Together we proved what Henry Ford said best:
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
Today… success was seen out on the green.

Until next year — Gladiators out!
