Our team at Great Lakes Funerals had the honour of arranging a deeply moving farewell at The Green Cathedral, a place of worship nestled among the trees of Booti Booti National Park, overlooking the calm waters of Wallis Lake.

Surrounded by nature’s quiet beauty, the sound of the breeze through the trees, the gentle light through the canopy, and the stillness of the lake, it was a farewell that felt both grounded and transcendent.

The Green Cathedral holds a sacred stillness, a sense of connection to both the earth and the divine. It’s moments like these that remind us how powerful simplicity can be, when love, nature, and remembrance come together in harmony.

A beautiful service was held at the Community of Christ Church in Tuncurry, a beautiful and historic place of worship that has stood at the heart of the community for over a century.

Built in 1910 by local members including Ernest and Stanley Wright, the church has seen generations of families gather in moments of faith, love and remembrance. Over the years, it has been lovingly restored, from the addition of the bell tower in the 1920s to repairs after a fire in 1969, and its careful restoration in 1995 by Bruce Wright and Lyn Nicholson.

Originally the Church of Christ, it became the Community of Christ in 2001, continuing its mission of faith and fellowship. The Wright family’s deep connection to the church and the community remains an enduring legacy, one we were honoured to be part of today.

A truly special place to say farewell and celebrate a life well lived. 💛
