October is Mental Health Month 🧘‍♀️

Here in Australia, October is all about raising awareness, starting conversations, and supporting positive mental health.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to care for your mind is to care for your body. Regular movement and massage can both make a big difference in managing stress, boosting mood, and improving sleep quality.

✅ Movement helps release endorphins, supports healthy brain function, and reduces anxiety and fatigue. Whether it’s a walk, swim, Pilates class or your physio exercises – every bit counts.

💆‍♀️ Massage helps ease muscle tension, lowers cortisol levels (your stress hormone), and promotes relaxation, helping your nervous system reset.

🌼 Spring is the perfect time to get moving outdoors!

There’s no better place to stretch your legs than around beautiful Wallis Lake, the Forster-Tuncurry breakwall, or the coastal walk trails. Walking is one of the simplest ways to boost fitness, clear your mind, and soak up that fresh spring sunshine.

But if you’ve had a bit of a winter break from activity, those longer walks can sometimes stir up lower limb ni**les - things like foot pain, shin splints, calf tightness, knee discomfort or hip ache.

If you’re feeling any of these as you get back into your walking routine, it’s a good idea to have it checked early. Our physios can assess what’s behind it (from gait mechanics to footwear and muscle strength) and help you stay pain-free on the paths this spring.

Start slow, enjoy the views, and keep your legs happy!
