❤️ Heart Health Starts With Movement ❤️

February is Heart Health Month — a great reminder to check in on how we’re looking after one of the most important muscles in our body.

Your heart works for you every single day. The best way to return the favour? Keep moving.

Regular physical activity can help:
• Lower blood pressure
• Improve circulation
• Reduce stress levels
• Support healthy cholesterol
• Improve overall energy and wellbeing

You don’t need extreme workouts to make a difference. A brisk 30-minute walk, light cycling, swimming, or structured strength training a few times a week can have a powerful impact over time.

If you’re unsure where to start, managing an injury, or living with a chronic condition, our team at Great Lakes Physio can help design a safe and achievable exercise plan tailored to you.

Small steps add up. Consistency matters more than perfection. If you’d like guidance on building heart-healthy habits, book in with our team or send us a message — we’re here to help ❤️

Remedial massage isn’t just a “nice to have” - it’s proper treatment.

At Great Lakes Physio, Terri uses experienced hands and a clinical approach to help with:

• Tight, overworked muscles
• Headaches and neck tension
• Lower back pain
• Shoulder and hip stiffness
• Recovery from training
• Ongoing injury management

Remedial massage can improve movement, reduce pain, increase circulation and help your body recover properly – not just temporarily feel better.

If you’re feeling tight, sore, or just not moving like you should, it might be time to book in.

Appointments with Terri fill quickly.
Book online or call the clinic to secure your spot.

Did you know?
Nearly 1 in 3 Australians, around 7.3 million people - are currently living with a chronic musculoskeletal condition such as back pain, arthritis or joint dysfunction.

These conditions are one of the leading causes of long-term pain, disability and reduced quality of life in Australia. For many people, pain becomes something they simply learn to live with- even though it doesn’t have to be that way.

➡️ Ongoing back pain, stiff shoulders, sore joints or injuries that keep flaring up aren’t “just part of getting older”.

At Great Lakes Physio, we help people move beyond persistent pain through:
✅ Evidence-based physiotherapy
✅ Individualised assessment and treatment
✅ Strength, mobility and rehabilitation programs
✅ Support to return to work, sport and daily life with confidence

You don’t have to push through pain alone.

Falls are one of the biggest health risks facing older Australians- but the good news is, many falls are preventable.

Recent Australian research shows that regular, targeted exercise can reduce falls by up to 55% in aged care and 42% for older adults living independently. The key factors?
✔️ Strength
✔️ Balance
✔️ Confidence with movement

That’s exactly what our Active Stronger Better (ASB) classes focus on at Great Lakes Physiotherapy.

ASB is a guided program designed to help older adults:
• Improve balance and stability
• Build strength safely
• Move with more confidence day to day
• Maintain independence for longer

Falls don’t usually come out of nowhere- they often happen when strength and balance gradually decline. Active Stronger Better targets these changes early, helping reduce risk before a fall occurs.

If you, or someone you care for, want to stay steady, strong and moving well, ASB is a great place to start.

👋 Welcome to the team, Lucy!

We’re excited to welcome Lucy, our newest Physiotherapist to the teams at The Physio Clinic and Great Lakes Physio. Lucy grew up locally and completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in Port Macquarie. She has a strong interest in functional rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, and helping people get back to the activities they love.

Outside the clinic, Lucy enjoys horse riding, bodyboarding, helping out on her family’s hobby farm – and even riding a unicycle, which she learnt while studying movement and skill development as a reminder of persistence and stepping outside her comfort zone. We’re so pleased to have her join the team and can’t wait for you to meet her.

Welcome, Lucy!

We’d like to give huge shoutout to Terri, who is currently undertaking her Cert IV in Allied Health Assistance 👏

This qualification will allow Terri to work more closely with patients who have chronic and complex needs, supporting their rehab and day-to-day progress in a really meaningful way.

We love seeing our team continue to upskill and grow, and we’re proud to support Terri as she takes this next step in her development 👏🏼
