Men’s Night at IMAX: Back to the Future & Back to Ourselves
This week, the boys got together for something simple but powerful: a night at IMAX watching Back to the Future, the original classic alongside the new reboot. No pressure, no deep conversations, just men showing up for each other - which is rarer than it should be.

Watching the old film reminded us how much time we spend trying to “fix” our past. Like Marty scrambling to rewrite his timeline. The new movie flipped that, reminding us that the future isn’t something we stumble into, it’s something we build.

Somewhere between the DeLorean, the nostalgia, and the surround sound, the message landed: looking after your mental health doesn’t always mean heavy talks. Sometimes it’s simply being around good people, taking a breather, and remembering you’re not doing life alone.
As Doc says, “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads. “Turns out, all we really need is each other.

CPS client Ronnie had to say this: “Today we got to see the Back to the Future. It was great to catch up with the boys and do something different for a few hours. I especially liked how it was at night so I could come at a later time and it fit into my day”

The Commonwealth Psychosocial program run frequent social outings, including outside of standard business hours. Because we know Mental health isn’t just 9-5!

The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit. 🍎
Self care works the same way too.
The rest, the boundaries, the routine and the healing!
You might not see results right away, and that’s okay.
Growth is happening even when it’s quiet. Every small choice you make today is planting something for your future self.
Be patient with yourself. Keep showing up.
The fruit will come. 🌱

Client Story – Satellite Clubhouse - Golf Day

At Mentis Assist, we believe connection, shared experiences, and time spent together in the community can play a powerful role in recovery. Our Satellite Clubhouse outings are designed to create safe, relaxed spaces where people can connect, build confidence, and enjoy moments of respite from daily challenges.

The following reflection comes from a de-identified client who recently attended a Satellite Clubhouse golf day. Their words capture the importance of feeling understood, supported, and free from overwhelm—even if only for a few hours—and the meaningful difference these shared experiences can make.

Recovery through Connection☀️
Our recent BBQ at the Frankston Foreshore brought together current and former Commonwealth Psychosocial Support (CPS) Program clients and Kindred Clubhouse members for a relaxed day of good food, great conversations, and community connection. From snags on the BBQ to a shared pavlova, it was all about reconnecting, meeting new faces, and feeling welcomed and supported.

Days like this highlight the power of groups in building wellbeing, belonging, and meaningful human connection. Thank you to everyone who joined us - we look forward to many more community moments together 💛

☀️ Summer Solstice: A Moment to Pause and Reflect
December 21 marks the longest day of the year.

The Summer Solstice invites us to take a breath, feel the warmth of the sun, and acknowledge the light — both around us and within us.

As we reach this seasonal turning point, it can be helpful to gently check in with yourself:
🌿 What are you ready to let go of?
🌞 What would you like to carry forward into the new season?
🌊 What restores your energy and sense of calm?

The solstice is a reminder to slow down, reconnect with nature, and honour your wellbeing. Small moments of reflection can create space for healing and renewal.

If you're feeling emotionally overwhelmed or simply need support during this time of year, Mentis Assist is here to help.

The lead-up to the holidays can bring increased pressure — to be productive, joyful, organised, social, and constantly “switched on.”

Here are a few simple practices to help stay grounded during this time:

• Start your mornings slowly
• Prioritise intentional rest
• Check in on your basic needs — food, water, movement, sunlight
• Say “no” when you need to, without guilt
• Acknowledge and celebrate small wins

Remember: Your worth is not defined by how much you achieve.
Take care of yourself — gently and without pressure. 💙

If you need support, Mentis Assist is here to help.

💙 Our Hearts Are With You 💙
Yesterday’s tragic events at Bondi Beach have deeply shocked and saddened us all. At Mentis Assist, we stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this senseless act of violence, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to those who are grieving, especially the victims, their families and friends, those who witnessed the horror, the good Samaritans, first responders, medical staff, and the community.

In times like these, the impact reaches far beyond those directly involved, it is felt deeply across our communities. We want to acknowledge the pain, fear and trauma that such events can trigger and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of all people during this difficult time.

If you, or someone you know, is feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or in need of support, please know that you are not alone. We are here for you.
