If you’ve got a pool inspection coming up in 2026, here’s how to prepare!

First, it’s important to know which pool safety standard applies to your pool. This is based on when your pool was built or approved. You can check council records, a building permit or speak with a registered pool inspector.

If you’re unsure whether something is compliant, you can send through photos or videos or we can even jump on a quick FaceTime so I can take a look and guide you.

If your pool has been inspected before, make sure nothing has changed since then, and if you know your inspection is due this year, booking ahead helps you stay organised and prepared!

Can I book my inspection before it’s due? Yes, to secure your spot, not to inspect early 📅✔️

We recommend booking ahead once you know your due date, so your inspection is scheduled for when it’s due, not before ⏳

This way, you receive the full 4-year certificate and only re-inspect when council requires it 🏊‍♂️✔️

Got a backyard spa? They need to be compliant too 👀♨️

Because many spas can be purchased ready-made and installed at home, a lot of people don’t realise they still need to be registered with council and have a certificate of compliance.

For example, during a property sale, this is something that’s checked and expected to be in place.

If you have a spa (or know someone who does), this is worth confirming. ✔️ Send this to someone with a backyard spa who might not know!

“I already got my compliance certificate… so why do I need another one?”

It’s a question we hear all the time.

Even if nothing looks different, pool barriers are required to be inspected every 4 years.
Not because the rules change but because barriers do.

Small wear and tear over time can make a big difference to safety.

In this reel, David explains exactly why councils follow up and what inspectors are actually looking for.

If your inspection is coming up (or overdue), David offers inspections for $225. ✅

Did you know your pool or spa is assessed differently depending on when it was built? 🤔

In Victoria, pool and spa barriers are assessed based on installation or approval date, which is why requirements can vary from property to property.

Each standard is designed to keep pools safe, they’re simply applied based on when the pool was built.

If you’re unsure which standard applies to your pool or spa, checking council records, a building permit or speaking with a registered pool inspector is a good place to start.

Knowing this can make the inspection process smoother!
