From cancer Good Things Grow The story of one man's inspiring journey from 'incurable' Non Hodgkin's lymphoma to cure. In mid 1999 I was living a busy and successful life.

All that changed in an instant when I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage IV Non Hodgkins lymphoma. It was the worst news possible. The prognosis was not good. I was expected to respond to chemotherapy, but invariably would relapse until my cancer became resistant to treatment or transformed to a more aggressive cancer. My cancer was incurable and eventually I would succumb to the disease. After chemotherapy I had a good response, but as predicted the cancer quickly returned. By early 2006 the cancer had returned for the FOURTH time and the future was looking bleak. My haematologist had then planned a stem cell transplant. However I declined his advice and told him I would be trying vaccine therapy.... using a personalised vaccine manufactured from my own cancer and some unique dendritic cells extracted from my blood. I started this treatment in 2006. I have had 52 injections, travelling half way to the moon in the process! It is the only treatment I have had since that time. There are no side-effects. I am now 10 years disease free. My haematologist has confirmed the vaccine has been a complete success, and my cancer is effectively cured. I feel I have a duty to tell others of my success, and inspire them to never give up hope. And not to ponder on the doctors' prognosis, and if your current treatment is not working or unlikely to be effective, then explore what other medical options are available. I am particularly keen on promoting vaccine therapies for cancer treatment, because it is harnessing your own bodies immune system to recognise and destroy the cancer, without side-effects. I firmly believe it is a treatment of the future and will, one day, be used for the treatment of all cancers. Yes one day be used to treat and cure all cancers. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or require further information. You may also care to read my book "From cancer Good Things Grow" which I have written to detail my journey and how I was led to the vaccine. The hard copy is available from Balboa Press or contact myself if you would like the EBook. Jeffrey Deslandes

AI does a pretty good job if you Google "Jeffrey Deslandes vaccine"...

Jeffrey Deslandes is a prominent Australian cancer survivor and patient advocate known for his use of a personalized cancer vaccine to treat his Stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which led to a long-term remission after traditional chemotherapy treatments failed.

His Story and the Vaccine

Diagnosis and Traditional Treatment:
Deslandes was diagnosed with advanced non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1999 and underwent four separate courses of chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapy.

The Decision for the Vaccine:
When his cancer relapsed for the fourth time in 2006, his specialist recommended high-dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Instead, Deslandes opted for an experimental, personalized vaccine therapy developed and trialed by Associate Professor Andrew Nicol.

The Vaccine Type:
The therapy involved creating a one-of-a-kind vaccine from a diseased lymph node from his own body. This process "reeducated" his immune system to identify and destroy his specific cancer cells.

Outcome:
Jeffrey's progress was remarkable; he became disease-free and remained so for over a decade following the treatment, which had minimal side effects compared to chemotherapy.

Advocacy and Legacy
Deslandes documented his journey in the book From Cancer Good Things Grow. He has been a guest speaker and volunteer, sharing his story to inspire other patients and raise awareness about emerging therapies.

The Grace Gawler Institute, a cancer charity with which Deslandes is affiliated, helps other patients access similar, improved versions of these personalized cancer vaccines through a global medical alliance, as the original treatment is no longer available in Australia but can be accessed in Asia.

Update on my tests at Peter Mac...

There are 3 possible outcomes after PRRT radiation treatment:
1. Disease has progressed - no response to treatment.
2. Disease is stable - treatment has halted the progression of disease.
3. Disease has reduced - treatment has reduced the volume and intensity of Neuro Endocrine tumors.

I'm in the third category... It's called a partial response. There is much less disease than one year ago before PRRT treatment!

So according to Peter Mac all has gone well and it's the best we can hope for ...

First results back from my tests at Peter Mac last week, following 4 rounds of PRRT radiation therapy for metastatic NET cancer earlier this year. Blood tests are all normal. Chromogranin A, which is a measure of disease activity (akin to PSA in prostate cancer), has reduced dramatically and is now sitting just at the top of the normal range. Great news. Scan results coming tomorrow x

Third treatment of PRRT today. Last cycle was a breeze.

Interestingly, yesterday was my 26th Anniversary of survival from my first cancer, Non Hodgkin's lymphoma, which was eventually cured with a personalised vaccine. My current Neuro Endocrine cancer was gifted to me in 2018, still a work in progress...

I received this unsolicited review from someone I met last weekend...

Jeffrey, I read your book yesterday and just wanted to say that your story is truly inspirational and it's clear that you have found your purpose unlike many of us still searching. I admire you for sharing your journey and giving people faith. It was great to meet you and spend time hiking in nature.
