Is your growing athlete complaining of pain at the bottom of their kneecap?
It could be Sinding-Larsen-Johansson disease, a common overuse injury in teens, especially during growth spurts. Boys tend to be affected more, likely due to higher sports participation ⚽
Symptoms include dull, localised pain, tenderness, and discomfort with running, jumping, squatting, or kneeling. The pain may linger after activity, and the area can be sore to touch 🤕
Treatment focuses on reducing stress on the knee: rest from aggravating activities, ice after exercise, gentle stretches, and supportive taping or physiotherapy.
At Peninsula Sports Medicine Group, our team of physiotherapists can provide the right diagnosis and tailored plan to get your athlete back on track 🦵
