Green thumbs of the future, St Francis Xavier Primary School Frankston prep students, helped plant garden beds at the new main entrance to Peninsula University Hospital.

They were joined by Melissa Horne MP, Paul Edbrooke MP, Michael Galea MP and Peninsula Health Chief Executive Helen Cooper.

Opening early next year, almost a quarter of the total new hospital area will be open green space.

It was wonderful to come together with so many of our valued supporters at the Peninsula Health Thank-You lunch, sponsored by InvoCare last week.

We are continually overwhelmed with the generosity of our donor community, who continue to donate or raise funds for us, so we can offer the very best of care to our community, both close to home and in the home.

THANK YOU 👏 👏 👏

Happy Father’s Day to local dads Anthony and JR, whose two girls were born via a surrogate mother at Frankston Hospital.

“I grew up always wanting to be a parent, but knowing that it may not be possible... It was not in our wildest dreams.”

After years of saving and expecting to spend thousands on a surrogacy program overseas, the couple found a solution much closer to home.

🌟 In a Victorian first, Peninsula Health will launch an advanced electronic tool that will help the personal choices and desires of our patients to be at the forefront of their care.

Developed as part of a research project led by Comprehensive Care Manager Rebecca Barnden, and made possible through funding from the National Centre for Healthy Ageing (NCHA) Living Labs program, the tool has supported more than 1,000 patients during trials at Frankston Hospital and Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre.

Using survey-style questions, the program captures each person’s care priorities, needs and preferences.

“No other health service is capturing this type of information electronically from consumers and having it available in real time for staff. We’re very much a leader in this space,” says Rebecca.

📅 Rolling out in 2026, each ward will have a dedicated staff member to help patients navigate the online program. Patients can complete the survey independently on their phone or tablet, or with assistance from staff using one of our iPads. Patients’ needs and preferences will be saved for future admissions.

This groundbreaking research will help deliver even more personalised care, so every individual, especially those with a disability or complex needs, feels safe, valued and supported.

⭐ We’re proud to share that Peninsula Health was today named Australia’s ’Standout Healthcare Facility’ at the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) Health and Environmental Sustainability Conference. PharmaCycle runs the country’s first end-to-end blister pack recycling program.

Selected from over 80 healthcare facilities nationwide, Frankston and Rosebud Hospitals were recognised for launching a formal recycling initiative in May 2024 to address pharmaceutical waste.

And the results speak for themselves with over 229,000 blister packs recycled in the 2024–2025 period.
This award is a win for the environment, our community, and everyone committed to sustainable healthcare, including our dedicated staff who run this program ♻️
