These services include acute medical, paediatric, surgical and maternity care, critical care, mental health services, aged care, rehabilitation and geriatric evaluation and assessment, palliative care, residential care, community health, health education and promotion, outpatient services, aged care and assessment, investigative and medical support services, allied health, and clinical training.

Tegan MacCormack, known to many as cake decorating whiz Tigga Mac, never expected to be undergoing breast cancer treatment at Frankston Hospital in her thirties.

“For the last couple of months, I've felt like I've pushed pause on everything in my life,” she shares. “It’s such a dark time, but being able to go into the Chemotherapy Unit and be so well looked after made it so much easier.”

This Christmas, Peninsula Health is raising funds for new equipment for our cancer services.

“Everyone knows someone who has had cancer or is going through it — it touches everyone,” says Tegan. “If you live locally, give to the health service who might end up helping your loved ones. Just the smallest amount can really help if we all pitch in.”

Entering the world 11 weeks early, baby Willow is one of the incredible preemies in our Special Care Nursery.

After being transferred to Frankston Hospital at just 7 weeks old, Willow is now on the final stretch. Over the next couple of weeks, she’ll be getting ready to leave hospital and join her parents, Jasmine and Kurtis.

“When you give birth, you expect to take your baby home - that’s what’s meant to happen. It’s been hard having to leave her,” explains Jasmine.

“But being at Frankston has made such a difference - she’s only 10 –15 minutes away now, and I can visit anytime. It’s so much less stressful.”

The family can’t wait to welcome Willow home - enjoying all the simple joys, from changing nappies to going for walks and dressing her in her new outfits.

What’s a rocking horse got to do with a CT scanner? 🐴

Woodworkers of the Southern Peninsula donated this expertly crafted rocking horse (valued at $3800) to be the first prize in this year's Rosebud Hospital Christmas Raffle. Funds raised from the raffle will go towards a new CT scanner for the hospital.

The new Cancer Services area at Peninsula University Hospital is set to transform the way we deliver cancer care.

By bringing together the chemotherapy day unit and inpatient wards into one co-located space, we’re making it easier for patients to access the care they need.

From tackling gastro outbreaks to boosting education and training for our clinical teams, Dr David Lister, Peninsula Health’s new Head of Infectious Diseases, is leading the way in keeping our community safe.

Dr Lister’s passion for infectious diseases began during his final university placement in Uganda. The experience inspired a lifelong dedication to public health, infectious diseases and humanitarian work - expertise he now brings to Peninsula Health.

In his new role, Dr Lister is focused on strengthening our infection prevention and control surveillance systems and helping teams and specialties across our health service collaborate more closely.

“Many of our goals are shared - from preventing infections after surgery, to caring for patients with complex needs and supporting our community through local outbreaks. Our priority is always improving patient outcomes,” he says.

Monash University and the National Centre for Healthy Ageing have partnered with Peninsula Health to explore the use of the SmileyScope – a therapeutic VR headset displaying nature-based imagery, designed to reduce anxiety and enhance the dental experience for patients, especially for children, older adults, and people with a disability.

AI is helping to provide life-saving training to doctors and nurses.

Our Emergency Department is trialling the use of AI technologies in their simulation exercises, to see whether it can enhance the learning experiences of our staff.

🎤 microphones and cameras are set up in the room

⌚ participants wear tags that track movement, wristbands that detect physiological data, and microphones to capture verbal communication

📈 data is analysed by the software and presented in a visual display to discuss with participants during the debrief
