Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a complex mental health condition that is frequently misunderstood and often carries significant stigma. It is characterised by an unstable sense of identity, intense emotional distress, and feelings of disconnection from oneself and others. These challenges typically emerge in late adolescence or early adulthood and can be deeply distressing and difficult to manage. Currently between 2 - 5% of Australians are affected by BPD at some stage in their lives. However, despite the misconceptions surrounding BPD, recovery is possible. There are effective, evidence-based treatments available that can help individuals build more stable relationships, feel more in control, and lead a fulfilling life.
