I heard Lara Schulz presenting on Neurotherapy earlier this year. She can capture the activity in the brain, diagnose what is out of whack and then treat it. She is coming to Perth in October. Here is an interview with her https://open.spotify.com/episode/6fPry9SMFsrO4Ev6o1iNdJ I was very impressed by her and what she does. She had a look at one man's brain waves which indicated he was a psychopath. Lara showed the results to her mentor in the US and he said he didn't want her to treat this man..... because he was a psychopath!

I am currently seeing people online or if it isn't too far, at their house, as I left my Fremantle office in April.

The consultation process goes as follows: you fill in the Registration Form including tick boxes about what is bothering you, your drugs and your supplements. I also include a page on what you usually eat and when. The initial consultation takes just over an hour. I ask what you would specifically like to address with more detailed questions about how long you have had this problem, what makes it better or worse etc. I will ask a bit about your health history (including dental) and health issues in your immediate relatives. Further questions will likely be about your gut, immunity, heart and cardiovascular system, bones and muscles, nervous system including brain, skin, hormones, reproductive system, kidneys, sleep, exercise and hobbies. I like to measure blood pressure, blood oxygenation, pulse and look at your tongue and fingernails. Weight and height are also useful if available.

I like to see recent blood tests and can send you for blood tests however you will have to pay for them as I don't have access to Medicare. I look for results within an optimal function range rather than the 'normal' mid 95% range and consider your symptoms as well. Most blood results are available within a couple of days. Genetic testing can be very insightful though results take longer.

As for solutions, I use herbal tinctures, daylight, supplements, dietary change, meal timing change, sometimes a ketogenic diet. breathing exercises to reduce stress, brain training or less EMF exposure. I search Google Scholar and Pub Med when I don't know. I regularly check drug-nutrient interactions and drug nutrient depletions and side effects. I may suggest you get specialist advice on increasing your exercise. Exercise increases oxygenation, improves mood and reduces inflammation! If I know of someone who can help you faster and at less cost than I can I will refer you.

Sleep duration and quality are esssential to good health and I frequently use readings from a continuous pulse oximeter worn at night to see if someone's oxygenation and pulse are adequate. Though not diagnostic of sleep apnoea these results can flag the need for a sleep apnoea test via your doctor. You may need a CPAP machine. Inadequate oxygenation at night can increase weight, blood pressure, diurnal sleepiness and reduce brain function.

I am currently paying more attention to detoxification from for example mould, glyphosate, heavy metals, spike protein from Long Covid and environmental chemicals. These can mostly be tested if specific results are wanted or sometimes it is easier just to do the detoxification.

Naturopathic and Nutritional Medicine treatments are about getting to the root cause, not just about treating symptoms so the process is not like a quick one-pill fix from your doctor and will usually need effort and changes made by you which are aimed to get to the root cause and improve your quality of life longterm.

Is your brain getting enough oxygen at night? I have just got an O2Ring to measure continuous blood oxygen, pulse rate and movement during sleep to hire out to clients for a week. Healthy people typically have oxygen saturation between 96-99%. During the night, your goal is to maintain oxygen levels around 95-98%, ideally as close to your daytime levels as possible. If you are losing blood oxygen by 4% more than 5 times an hour then that is a good indicator to get checked for sleep apnoea. Such changes in oxygen levels can contribute to frequent morning headaches, swelling in ankles and feet, tiredness, shortness of breath, irregular heart beats, high blood pressure, lightheadedness, dizziness, confusion, memory loss and higher red blood cell count. If blood oxygen saturation levels fall to 88% or lower, you should get immediate medical attention for the condition. Inadequate nocturnal oxygenation can be a contributing factor to alzheimer's disease. This sleep ring fits snugly on a thumb or forefinger and starts recording immediately. It will record for up to 10 hours at a time however it will need to be recharged as the charge lasts only 16 hours. On the plus side it will hold 4 lots of data at one time so when you return it after a week all 4 lots of data from 4 night's sleep can be downloaded.

Have you noticed that you are not quite so sharp? Have you got brain fog? Are you having difficulty accessing words you know you know? Do you have more difficulty remembering people’s names than you used to? Are you getting lost in places you know? Are you telling yourself that it is just ‘old age’? Have you got Alzheimer’s in your family? Well I have got news for you, old age doesn’t need to come with these lapses. There is a lot you can do to improve your brain function. First up why don’t you get a measure of how your brain is working? Go to www.apollohealthco.com and click the green button in the middle of the screen that says ‘ASSESS MY COGNITION’. You will need to enter your age and your email address. The test can take about 40 min and will give you a score for your age of how well your brain is working. Best to do it earlier in the day when you are fresh. Now you can see if you do have a bit of a problem. If you do, NOW is the time to act before it gets worse. And even if your test comes back okay yet you know your brain isn’t working as well as it did (Subjective Cognitive Impairment when you notice it but probably no-one else does yet) you can start by reading Dr Bredesen’s book ‘The End of Alzheimer’s’. Then book an appointment with Sparky Brain to start the recovery work.

I swim at Port Beach in the morning and have swum 6km for my badge this summer. It is more of a mindset than anything. See what this lady is doing at age 85. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwKZzdZ_TEU&feature=youtu.be If you aren't exercising at the minute, just start with something, even if it is only one step a day. Keep at it day after day and preferably do something you really enjoy with other people that you like. I started going to the beach, which is half an hour away, a couple of years ago. I arranged to pick friends up on the way and that is how it got to be a habit. Then I joined Port Beach Polar Bears. The clubhouse is open every day of the year from about 5.30am until 8am. I usually swim with other people, the B Team, then we can have a cup of tea and a chat. It is wonderful. The sea is always different and the early morning light helps set the body's circadian rhythm for the day. Exercise is essential for your brain function to work at its best.

https://toxicmoldproject.com If you have been in contact with mold and have odd symptoms I recommend this series which is on now and each day's interviews are free to view for 24 hours. Mold toxin is difficult for human bodies to get rid of. It gets excreted into the gut then reabsorbed so the damage continues even if you are no longer exposed to the original mold. Mold can be a player in loss of brain function. Note also that you can have a mold infection in your sinuses!
