Golden Threads Art Therapy

Golden Threads Art Therapy Golden Threads Art Therapy and Creative Expression. Group workshops or individual therapy with a qua Creativity in its essence is change. We focus. We flow.

We change the blank page into something when we make our mark, the paint on the pallet to something fluid and moving when we dip in our brush, the still unconscious body into movement and awareness when we dance, the frantic mind into flow and meditation through engagement, the silence or noise into beauty when we sing a song that resonates. We are lost in a newfound place and there we find oursel

ves. We are changing from one state of consciousness into another. Transformation happens. Using art in therapy allows us to externalise, our thoughts, feelings and issues. Through art making we are able to not only express ourselves by different means but to also look at the artwork as a visual representation of what is going on within us. It helps us to connect to our true selves and separate ourselves from our story. We are able to connect to wisdom that is nonverbal and non cognitive. Though engaging in any art is therapeutic in itself, in an art therapy session we create art with a question to the self, with a problem in mind, to explore what we are unsure of, so that we can find something we may have missed in dealing with our lives the way we have been. By using symbols and metaphor to tell our stories we can go beyond our normal rational thought patterns. We are able to privilege the unconscious and bring information (that we may be unaware of) to the fore of consciousness. This allows us greater awareness and insight, and offers us a way to guide ourselves toward alternative outcomes, which meet with our true selves. Find out how art therapy can help you get the most of your life. Message me for a session today.

Creative therapy can be a valuable tool in trauma recovery, offering a unique and expressive outlet for processing emotions and experiences. Here are some ways creative therapy can help:

Non-verbal expression: Creative activities like art, music, or dance allow individuals to convey emotions and memories without relying on words, which can be especially helpful for those struggling to verbalise their trauma.

Emotional regulation: Engaging in creative activities can help regulate emotions, reducing feelings of anxiety, anger, or overwhelm.

Empowerment: Creative expression can provide a sense of control and agency, helping individuals regain a sense of power and confidence.

Narrative reframing: Creative therapy can aid in reframing traumatic experiences, allowing individuals to reprocess and reinterpret their stories in a more positive or empowering light.

Mind-body connection: Creative activities can help bridge the gap between the mind and body, releasing tension and promoting physical relaxation.

Social support: Group creative therapy sessions offer a supportive environment, fostering connection and community among individuals with shared experiences.

Personal growth: Creative therapy can facilitate self-discovery, self-awareness, and personal growth, promoting resilience and post-traumatic growth.

"the best medicine you can bring for sadness is not joy. it is not telling them that they need to move on or get over it or realise how much worse things could be. no. the medicine for a spirit in mourning is tenderness. and warmth. and compassion. and connection. and presence. sit with someone in their grief and let them cry their ugly tears. do not shine and scurry grief away. they must walk through it. this is love. to abandon all that we think we know and be so full of grace that we are invited in to partake in someone else's darkest moments. what an honour it is to simply be a light. the antidote for sadness is love. it is always love."

Hi everyone.πŸ‘‹ It's Paige here.😊 I thought I'd share what's happening with me at Golden Threads so if you haven't met me you have a bit of background info and if you have, you might share this info with anyone who might be interested in trying art and creative therapy with me. πŸ™

I have been working as an Art Therapist now for over 9 years, running workshops and seeing clients for one on one sessions, for a wide range of organisations and privately through Golden Threads.✨️

I have a Bachelor of Arts Psychotherapy (Art Therapy) an Advanced Diploma of Transpersonal Art Therapy, NDIS clearances and am fully insured and registered with ANZACATA the peak governing body for Australian Art Therapists.πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“ Part of the requirement for my registration is ongoing Professional Supervision to insure I uphold the standards and ethics of professional practice to provide the best care and service to my clients. πŸͺ‚

I'm also a singer songwriting and have been creating music for 30 years🎡🎢

You do not need to have any special artistic skills to benefit from creative therapy. My own visual artwork is quite simple but the insight I gain from creative expression is immense! 🌈

For the last 2 and half years I have been running workshops and seeing individual clients as a contractor for a large Australian wide NDIS company. This has been fantastic experience for me though at times a little frustrating as they are based in the Eastern States so aren't as in touch with WA clients as they could be. Anyway they have now decided to go in a different direction and are nolonger offering Art or Creative Therapy to their clients. So I would like to cut out the middle person and am now offering these workshops privately. I also have room for one or two more individual clients for one on one sessions. I have received incredibly positive feedback from previous clients who felt coming along every session was the highlight of their week. 🌞🌟

I am incredibly passionate about Art Therapy and the work I do and would love to facilitate your journey toward greater personal growth and healing.
If you've ever wanted to experience this life changing modality or know someone who might benefit please get in touch or share these details. πŸ“©
