Most of us cling to safety by trying to manage, control or predict every outcome living in the “what if’s,” believing that’s what keeps us safe. But in truth, it creates more disharmony within the body.
From a nervous system perspective control is a protective strategy. It’s the body’s way of preventing future pain or uncertainty. But over time this state of hypervigilance exhausts the system.
It takes far more energy to hold, cling and control than it does to open, soften and surrender. And yes, for many of us this is a deep re-learning and a re-patterning of what safety truly means.
But safety isn’t born from control. It’s felt through the opening and softening of the body ~
Through slow, conscious breath. Through grounding in movement and touch. Through allowing emotions to move and be felt
and creating space for the body to receive and rest in trust.
