Today is World Mental Health Day.

Each year on October 10 we all have the chance to put mental health in the spotlight to raise awareness and break down stigma.

This year we have focussed on the meaningful connections in our lives, and why they are so important for good mental health.

Mental health is an issue that touches each and every one of us in different ways, and World Mental Health Day reminds us that we should be connecting with loved ones, connecting with our community and colleagues, connecting with services and supports if needed - and most importantly - connecting back with ourselves for good mental health.

"What do I need to hear right now to express kindness to myself?" 💗

✨ 5 Self-Compassion Phrases to Support You in Any Moment ✨
We all face challenging times, but the words we tell ourselves matter.
When you're in a difficult situation that is causing you stress, ask yourself, "What do I need to hear right now to express kindness to myself?" Try repeating a phrase that speaks to you in your particular situation. Some potentials are:

💖 May I give myself the compassion that I need
💖 May I learn to accept myself as I am
💖 May I forgive myself
💖 May I be strong
💖 May I be patient

Gentle reminders like these can bring a sense of calm and kindness into your day. What resonates with you? Comment below and let us know the phrase that speaks to you the most!

Sometimes it's hard to say "I'm struggling right now." or "I need help right now."

One of the biggest tools you can learn when it comes to your mental health is identifying how you're feeling at any given time and why you're feeling it (and what you can do to improve it, even if that thing is just reaching out to your doctor).

I used to ignoreignoreignore how depressed/anxious I was feeling and then I would fall flat on my ass. Be so anxious that my agoraphobia kicked in and I'd be unable to leave the house or I'd become so depressed that I would spend days in bed crying and not knowing what was wrong.

Learning how to acknowledge when I'm on that path to really struggling has been one of the biggest things that helped improve my mental health.

So let's check in! Where are you right now? Are your anxiety/depression levels pretty low and you're in a good mood? Are you ignoring the fact that you're starting to struggle by trying to stay busy? Are you stretching yourself thin when you need to turn that energy inward and take care of yourself?

Once you answer that question the next question is what do you need, what do you REALLY need, to feel better?

Yep, looks right.
