'Perfect Pebble'
I was called to work with the Pebble Gem Essence (Humanifest) for the first of two new paintings in my fresh home.
This piece is painted on luscious 640gsm Saunders & Waterford archival watercolour paper, is 36cm x 36cm (square) with Gem pigment paints Amethyst, Turquoise (Kingman's Green) and Fuchsite.

Pebble Essence:
Many of us have times when we feel battered by the turmoil of our lives or by the stress of our environment. We feel limited by our place in family, culture or social “place”. We crave the strength of stillness.
This essence reminds us that the truth of who we are is not affected by the changes and demands of our daily lives. It communicates a direct resonance of being, which is grounding and acknowledging. This acknowledgment, supports active, focused awareness such as is often developed in meditation and deep silence.
Pebble essence is an essence of trust. A trust in the way we are held and supported by the earth.
Once we allow an awareness of this support to open within us, states of relief, gratitude and a deepened self-acceptance develop. We can relax in the support we are given to just be.

These pieces were painted together over a couple of sessions in the summer of 2021. The first layer came in early January, and the second during a snap lockdown in Perth, when the Perth hills were ablaze in fire. An offering of compassion to everyone affected and an invitation to presence & hope during uncertain times. ✨

Feeling for all of my friends and family over there during lockdown, a place I once dearly called home. How quickly things change, as the very next day I was in lockdown here in Perth too. 🌈

Today I stepped out of my creative comfort zone and into the realm of play & curiosity at a Botanical Drawing workshop with 🌿

I’m getting to know the Firewood Banksia more deeply as I prepare to make the Flower Essence 🌼

The process of creating this drawing gave me a feeling of unexpected delight 💛 Sweet mindfulness smiles of being in the present moment returned to me, as I worked with the simplicity of only 2 lead pencils, being present to the flower, her intricate details & movement 🌺

Firewood Banksia ❤️

Banksia Menziessi ❤️ I’ve been spending some time in the local Walubup wetlands bush lately, getting to know this beauty better. All of these pictures are of the same species in different growing stages!

Starting at pastel pink and lemon, they turn to red, then begin to flower yellow from the bottom up.

They are absolutely stunning, one of the first flowers of autumn after our hot summers in Perth. They fill me with joy, curiosity and wonder!

I’m looking forward to making a new Flower Essence of this soon ❤️

I am Woman 💜💗

This impassioned piece was painted on the evening of the women’s marches, and it felt like one of my most potent painting sessions ever! 💜💗 There is a wild roar in this piece, courage to speak up, to blaze and transform. I danced with it, and meditated with it while it was drying for hours!

This is my expression of art in response to the political climate. I may not be able to march in the streets right now; I’m showing up through art instead, this is my march. 💜💗

A letter to the feminine:
‘This is my march.
This is my cry for equality.
This is my echo of sacred rage.

To be safe.
