Curious about developing as a freediver?
Do you want to dedicate some time to learning how to:
đrelax your nervous system,
đbreathe fully and functionally,
đimprove the flexibility and strength of your breathing muscles,
đsharpen your freedive technique to be more oxygen-efficient while developing your breath-hold in a safe, controlled environment?
đunlock the innate healing of body and mind through breathing practice
Then join Western Australiaâs longest running professionally-led âBlueback Freedivers Squadâ!
This training is for certified freedivers only.
Weâve been sad to hear of a growing number of freedivers putting themselves at risk doing breath-holding without proper professional knowledge or support. There is an increase in instructors who have spent very little time learning how to safely instruct students in Perth and around the world, as the sport grows, and who may be copying professional methods without the depth of knowledge needed to provide this kind of training safely to the public.
This is a risk to both individuals and the sport of freediving itself. It is only safe when the set and setting is safe. That setting is not safe when youâre being guided by someone who has not spent more than a week learning how to teach freediving safely.

Why join our Spring Squad as a casual?
Why book ahead to join our Summer Squad on either a Tuesday or Thursday night?
Itâs more enjoyable to practise together with other trained freedivers, it makes you more accountable to record and reflect on your performance, and itâs certainly not worth your life to develop unsafe practises, training either alone or with friends or instructors who do not know how to follow international protocols and best practise standards of safety.
Our focus is your enjoyment, health, and safety, with your performances improving as an outcome of simply showing up to develop using our tried and tested freedive methods.
Iâve been guiding and teaching freediving for over a decade, training many freedivers who have gone on to compete and gain national and world records. I pride myself on teaching freedivers to understand their breath-hold and how to listen to their bodies, rather than simply giving you a big number to achieve. My training is adaptable and flexible within reasonable boundaries, as each and every breath-hold should be, to ensure the health and safety of the freedivers participating.
Our Blueback Freedivers Squad is NOT a place to push your limits, but a community to explore your aquatic potential in a safe, wise and compassionate way.
If youâre interested to train competitively, then I recommend training with us one-on-one with appropriate oxygen-support equipment poolside and a facility that is aware of the risks and on board to help manage the risks.
The Blueback Freediversâ Squad is a specially formulated 2-hour weekly session that will make improving in freediving fun, safe and with professional guidance.
We suggest you get the support you need and deserve if you have competitive goals - which is in a very controlled, one-on-one setting.
Our community freedive squad is a way to develop towards your Advanced and Master Level performance goals in any freedive system. With our seasonal programs you receive a huge discount to join as a regular as we know the more you train in the right way, the better you will get.
Feel free to ask me any questions. Our school Blueback Freediving & Yoga has provided over a decade of freediving pool training, courses, charters, community days and retreatsâŚand I still love it!
