Meet Evan!

Evan joined Jigsaw in January 2024, bringing with him hands-on experience from Orana and Bedford, where he worked in manufacturing and packaging facilities.

At Jigsaw, he’s thriving in digitisation - working on file management, scanning and quality control. Through the Academy Program, he’s building transferable skills and increasing his confidence, both of which will help him to achieve open employment.

What Evan loves most about his time at Jigsaw is the camaraderie he finds in his fellow trainees, and the time they spend together during lunch breaks, socialising and playing Uno.

“I’m proud to be at Jigsaw, learning new things every day and meeting amazing people,” he says.

A big shout out to Sean from Jigsaw Adelaide!

We’re proud to celebrate Sean, one of our fantastic trainees, who’s been selected to represent Australia in the 2025 Homeless World Cup in Norway! ⚽️

"I’ve been playing in a community street soccer program in the city that focuses on improving physical and mental health, while promoting inclusiveness and team spirit,” he says. “I attend once a week, and it's always a good atmosphere!”

"Each year, only one person from each state is nominated to represent Australia in the Homeless World Cup, which will be held in Norway this year. In April, I was honoured to be nominated to join the national team. The selection is based on fair play, teamwork, positive attitude, and team spirit - all qualities I’m proud to bring to the field," says Sean.

"I’ll be playing as our goalkeeper, and I’m really looking forward to representing my country on the world stage."

Go Sean! Jigsaw will be cheering you on every step of the way!

Workplace communication is changing – fast. Tools like Google Chat, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Zoom chat are now a big part of daily work. They’re great for quick messages, team updates, and staying connected when working remotely. But they also come with new expectations and unspoken rules.

For people living with disability, especially one that affects communication, processing, or energy levels, these tools can be both helpful and challenging. Head to the Jigsaw blog to learn more about these digital tools and how you can make them work best for you: https://jigsawaustralia.com.au/news/general/making-digital-chats-work-for-you-a-guide-to-workplace-communication-tools/

Did you know that Jigsaw is a not-for-profit organisation? This end of financial year, why not make a tax-deductible donation towards a future of full inclusion in the workforce for Australians with disability?

When Geoffrey first joined Jigsaw Brisbane in 2021, he was incredibly quiet - often speaking only a few words at a time. Accompanied by his own support worker, he found it difficult to stay for a full day.

Today, Geoffrey is permanently employed as a Claims Support Officer at Allianz: an incredible transformation in just four short years.

Geoffrey’s remarkable personal and professional growth is a testament to his hard work. Throughout his time at Jigsaw, he built his confidence and skills and was always keen to take on more responsibility. Highlights include becoming a regular contributor to Jigsaw’s newsletter, and working as a paid trainee on a contract for Queensland State Archives.

“My time at Jigsaw has helped me grow in confidence and skills and has shown me that I am more capable than I thought I could be before,” Geoffrey shares. “I thoroughly enjoy working for Allianz, and I’m grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way.”

Your donation can empower people like Geoffrey to build their future in work. To make a donation, please head to https://jigsawaustralia.com.au/donate/

Geoffrey’s journey: From quiet beginnings to career success

When Geoffrey first joined Jigsaw Brisbane in 2021, he was incredibly quiet - often speaking only a few words at a time. Accompanied by his own support worker, he found it difficult to stay for a full day.

But from those early beginnings, Geoffrey has gone on to achieve remarkable personal and professional growth.

His goal of working in an office environment that values his strengths became a reality when he secured a Paid Trainee position at Jigsaw - and later a permanent role at Allianz.

Geoffrey now works as a Claims Support Officer, thriving in his career and proving just how far he’s come. Head to our blog to read more about Geoffrey's story - the link is in our bio.

Inspiring conversations and powerful connections 👏

Our Jigsaw trainees and alumni came together today for a special townhall event at Allianz featuring guest speakers The Hon. Kate Washington MP, Minister for Disability Inclusion, and Allianz Managing Director Richard Feledy.

This incredible opportunity to hear from leaders in inclusion reinforces the impact of our ongoing partnership with Allianz - forging a more inclusive future in the workplace, one conversation at a time.

📣 What’s new in the NDIS: Changes to how funding is released

From 19 May 2025, the NDIS has introduced a new way of releasing funding in new and reassessed plans.

Instead of receiving all your funding upfront, it will now be made available in smaller instalments - usually every 3 months. This is designed to make budgeting easier and more manageable over the life of your plan.

👉 Your total funding won’t change - just when it becomes available.
👉 You won’t be affected until you receive a new or updated plan.

If you have any questions, chat to your support coordinator or reach out to us directly. To read more about the changes, head to the link in our bio - we've linked to some handy information from the NDIA.
