Celebrating big milestones 🥳

We love recognising those special moments when a therapy journey comes to an end, whether it’s reaching goals or taking a well-earned break. While it’s always a little bittersweet saying goodbye to the incredible relationships we’ve built with our clients and families, we couldn’t be prouder of how far they’ve come!

A special shoutout to this amazing client who has been with Ignite for the past 3 years. Watching his growth, confidence and progress over that time has been so rewarding, and we feel so lucky to have been part of his journey 🥹

We are so proud of you ⭐️

Happy World Social Worker Day ⭐

Today we are celebrating our incredible Therapeutic Social Worker, Lewis!

In paediatrics, social workers support children and families with the social and emotional side of development. Helping children understand emotions, build confidence, develop relationships and navigate life’s challenges.

Lewis works closely with our clients and their families to provide support, strategies and advocacy so they can thrive at home, school and in the community.

We are grateful to have Lewis as part of the Ignite team and for the care, compassion and dedication he brings to the families we support every day 💛

Feeding Therapy 🥦🍊🍇

*Please note this was solely a training & we are yet to organise therapy openings in the clinic

A couple of weeks ago, two members of our team became certified SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) trained feeding therapists ⭐️

SOS Feeding Therapy is an evidence-based, child-led approach designed to support children who experience picky eating or feeding challenges. Rather than focusing only on eating, this approach helps children gradually build comfort with different foods through play, exploration, and sensory experiences.

Using the structured “Steps to Eating” framework, children learn to interact with food in small, manageable ways, starting with simply tolerating it nearby, then progressing to looking, smelling, touching, tasting, and eventually eating. This process helps reduce anxiety around food while building confidence and positive experiences.

✨ Key benefits include:
• Expanding the variety of foods children can tolerate
• Supporting comfort with different textures, tastes, and smells
• Addressing underlying sensory, oral motor, and behavioural factors
• Focusing on positive food experiences rather than pressure to eat

We are so excited for the additional knowledge and skills they will bring to the team and our clients!🍴

Welcome Toby & Jawad 🌟

Over the past month, we have welcomed OT students Toby and Jawad to our team as they complete one of their final-year placements with us.

In their final year of study, they’re gaining hands-on experience by observing, supporting, and running sessions under supervision. We can’t wait to see the growth they continue to show, and the positive impact they’ll have on our little people along the way.

At Ignite, we’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of health professionals. Welcoming students into our space not only supports their learning, but also brings fresh energy and new connections for the children and families we work with 😊

Meet Georgia 🩵

Georgia has been part of the Ignite team since completing her student placement with us, and we’re so excited to officially welcome her into this new role!

She is passionate about paediatrics and supporting children to build everyday life skills, confidence and independence in ways that feel achievable and meaningful for families.

Developmental Educators support children in a very similar way to OT, helping them develop the skills and capacity needed for everyday life. This can include emotional regulation, play and social skills, communication, executive functioning, sensory processing and engaging in daily routines.

Georgia also works closely with parents and caregivers, providing practical strategies and guidance so children can feel more confident and included across home, education and community environments ⭐️

Georgia currently has immediate capacity for new clients, both in clinic and mobile sessions 🚗

Fun facts about Georgia:
💙 Favourite colour: Blue
🎲 Favourite game: Skippity
🍟 Favourite food: Hot chips
🌊 Interests: Beach walks, reading, music & the gym

Say hi if you see Georgia around the clinic 👋🏻

Co-regulation ➡️ Self-regulation

Big feelings are a normal part of growing up, and co-regulation is how children learn to manage them.

In our practice, we work with many children who have emotional regulation goals, and we always prioritise co-regulation first. When an adult is calm, present and connected, it supports emotional literacy, helps regulate the nervous system, and creates the foundation children need to eventually self-regulate.

It’s not about fixing emotions or making them disappear. It’s about supporting children through their feelings, again and again, until they can do it themselves 🤍

Wishing all our highschool, school and kindy kids the best of luck for their first week 💚

New routines can bring big feelings and that is completely
normal. Thinking of the parents too and reminding you to be kind to yourselves!
