☀️Spring is here! Time to reapply your sunscreen knowledge!☀️

As the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, it’s the perfect time to refresh your sunscreen routine. Here are some quick tips to keep your skin protected this spring.

1️⃣ Apply Generously. Don’t skip spots like your ears, neck, and the back of your hands—they need protection too.
2️⃣ Reapply Regularly. Apply every 2 hours, especially if you’re spending time outdoors. If you’re swimming or sweating, reapply more often.
3️⃣ Broad Spectrum. Be sure to check that your sunscreen covers UVA and UVB, which will help prevent those nasty skin cancers and fight premature aging.
4️⃣ SPF 30 or Higher. To ensure your sunscreen is doing its job you really need one with a high SPF. 50 is better than 30, but you should never go lower than 30.
5️⃣ Wear a Hat. Don’t forget your protective clothing as well! A physical barrier is going to give you the best sun protection, and a hat will help keep you cool as well 🤠

As the weather continues to warm up, enjoy the sunshine, but don’t forget to protect your skin—your future self will thank you! 🌼

We all love our coastal lifestyle, but a lifetime of regular sun exposure has given rise to very high rates of skin cancer diagnosis in Australia.

While nearly all skin cancers are treatable if detected early enough, many of the patients we see in our clinic could have avoided complex surgery if they came and saw us sooner.

Finding skin cancers while they are still tiny is our specialty at SkinSafe, but we need you to do your part first.

If you haven't a full skin check for over a year, make an appointment with Dr Keith to get peace of mind, and receive education about your lifestyle risk factors.

We are committed to protecting your skin and giving you the best treatment possible. Book online at www.skinsafe.au or call the clinic on 8522 6660.

❄️ Winter is the best time to give your skin some extra love and attention! 🌨️ Did you know that scheduling a skin check now can help you stay ahead of any potential issues? Here are a few reasons why:

1️⃣ Easier Detection: During winter, skin is often less exposed to the sun, which means any changes or abnormalities may be more noticeable. Tans and sunburns can sometimes mask suspicious spots, making them harder to detect.
2️⃣ Healing Time: If any procedures or treatments are needed after your skin check, the cooler weather and more covered-up clothing provide a better environment for healing. Sun exposure can complicate recovery and lead to scarring.
3️⃣ Baseline Assessment: Getting a skin check in winter provides a baseline assessment of your skin. Any changes that occur over the summer can be more easily identified in follow-up visits.
4️⃣ Early Detection: Skin cancer is most treatable when detected early. Regular checks, even when you think your skin is less exposed, can catch potential issues before they become serious.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Book your skin check today online or call the office and give your skin the care it deserves! 🩺✨

"I've been told I have a skin cancer... what next? 🤔

Being diagnosed with skin cancer can be very overwhelming for some people. At SkinSafe, Dr. Keith will carefully explain your results to you and discuss treatment options so you're completely informed. Many skin cancers can be cured with a relatively simple process where the skin is numbed and the cancer is essentially burned off. 🔥

Other skin cancers will require surgery, which might sound scary 😨, but it can usually be completed in the clinic in about 40 minutes. 💪🏼

Early detection is crucial for skin cancers, as the earlier we find them, the easier they are to treat, which means better outcomes for you. 🌟

Don't delay! If it's been a while since your last skin check, make a booking to see Dr. Keith today. 🩺✨ "

🌟 What is a Biopsy? 🌟

Ever wondered what a biopsy is? 🤔 A biopsy is a medical procedure where a small sample of tissue is taken from the body for closer examination. It's a crucial tool in diagnosing various conditions, especially skin cancers. 🧬

Why Do We Perform Biopsies?
Biopsies help doctors get a closer look at what's happening in your skin. By examining the tissue sample, they can determine the presence of cancers, their type, and how far they've progressed. This detailed information is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. 🩺🔬

Are Biopsies Painful?
The idea of a biopsy might sound scary, but most biopsies are minimally invasive and cause only mild discomfort. Our doctors use a special blend of bicarbonate with local anesthesia to numb the area, ensuring you feel as little pain as possible. Some might experience slight soreness afterward, but it's typically manageable and temporary. 💪😊

Biopsies play a vital role in modern medicine, providing valuable insights that help save lives. If your doctor recommends one, know that it's a step towards better understanding and treating your health. 🌟💖

🔍 Is a Skin Cancer Check Painful? Let's Find Out! 🌟

Hey everyone! 👋 Worried about getting a skin cancer check and wondering if it’s painful? Here’s the scoop:

No, a skin cancer check is NOT painful! 🌿✨ Here’s what to expect:

Visual Inspection: Our skin cancer doctor will carefully examine your skin from head to toe, with a close-up look at your moles and spots.

Dermatoscope Use: Often times they will use a dermatoscope—a special magnifying tool. It lets them see the details of your skin. No prodding or poking, it's completely painless!

Biopsy (if needed): Now, if something looks suspicious, a small sample might be taken for further testing. At worst this might feel like a tiny pinch, but it’s quick and usually over before you know it!

Regular skin checks are key to catching any issues early, and early detection saves lives. So, don’t let fear hold you back! 💪😊

Be SkinSafe, and if in doubt, get it checked out! ☀️🧴

🕒 Curious about how long a skin cancer check takes? 🤔

A typical skin cancer check usually takes about 15-20 minutes. During this time, our highly skilled skin cancer doctor will carefully examine your skin from head to toe with a dermatoscope, looking for any unusual moles or spots. If they find something suspicious, they might take a closer look , photograph the site, and perform a biopsy.

Quick, easy, and potentially life-saving! Don't delay—schedule your skin check today at www.skinsafe.au! 🌟💙

🌞☁️ Did you know? Skin cancers can appear in areas not typically exposed to the sun! 🌡️🧐

While we often associate skin cancer with sun-exposed areas like the face, arms, and legs, it's important to remember that it can develop anywhere on your body. This includes spots like your scalp, under your nails, the soles of your feet, and even in the spaces between your toes.

Skin cancer isn't picky about location, so make sure to check your entire body regularly and see you skin cancer doctor for routine skin exams.

As always, be SkinSafe, and if in doubt, get it checked out! 💪💙

🔎You may have heard people talking about the importance of getting a skin check, but just exactly what is a skin check, why is it so important, and who can do it for you?
At SkinSafe Cancer Clinic, our highly trained doctors conduct a thorough head to toe examination using a dermatoscope, which is a handheld skin microscope. Any spots of concern will be analysed further, which may include a biopsy and clinical photographs being taken. A full skin check is a crucial part of detecting skin cancers early, which gives us the best chance of successfully treating them with minimal discomfort to you and the best clinical outcomes.
