                                            The humble triangle pose   is one of my favourite postures. I love the stretch it gives to the inner thigh and the strengthening of the side body.⠀

To stop yourself from sagging in trikonasana, gently squeeze your armpit to your hip on the upper side (my left side in this image). Last week's unsupported half moon pose is a perfect warm up for trikonasana to bring awareness to this engagement.⠀

I've heard teachers instruct to pull the top hip back as if your pelvis is flat against the wall behind you, but this can jam the SIJ (sacroilliac joint). It's safer to let the top hip roll forward a little to keep the back of the pelvis broad and then rotate the navel and chest upwards towards the sky. Which means there is a slight spinal twist in triangle pose. 💫⠀
