On Friday 3rd January at 2pm we say goodbye to our dear founder, mentor, colleague and friend Chris Mackey. We are so heart broken that he has gone. As we approach the 30th anniversary of our practice in 2025 we will strive to continue upholding Chris’s strong mission and vision to support the community of Geelong with the same integrity, compassion and excellence that Chris exemplified.

My article in today's Geelong Advertiser tells a more personal story that is fortunately turning out well, but I don't believe it would have without the terrific support of family and friends. Domestic violence needs to be addressed at many levels, including cross-generational trauma, societal attitudes, gender relationships, addressing poverty and inadequate housing, etc. It also needs to be addressed at a family, relationship and individual level.
In psychological terms, this includes promoting helpful anger management strategies. Men who resorted to violent or forceful behaviour often showed much greater control when they were motivated to change by recognizing how much they lost out in their lives (relationships, jobs, etc.) as a result of their anger. This podcast helps outline strategies that are most effective in curbing aggressive behaviour.
