Pelvic health physiotherapists play an important role in supporting people living with pelvic pain.

They work with the muscles and nerves of the pelvic floor and surrounding areas like the abdomen and hips. They also understand how pelvic pain can be linked with bladder and bowel symptoms, and changes in sexual function.

Our experienced pelvic health physiotherapists are a core part of our multidisciplinary team. Their focus is on understanding your experience, providing education, and supporting you with achievable, evidence-based strategies.

Appointments allow time to explore how symptoms are affecting your daily life, anything that feels challenging and what meaningful improvement looks like for you.

Seeking support for pelvic pain should always feel safe and inclusive.

Our clinic is a welcoming space for teenagers, women and people assigned female at birth, including trans and gender diverse people. If you’ve started menstruating and pelvic pain has persisted for more than six months, it may be worth seeking support.

We’re based in Geelong and support people across Western Victoria, with telehealth available where appropriate.

Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Endometriosis affects around 1 in 7 Australian women and people assigned female at birth. Yet it’s still widely misunderstood, and many people spend years trying to get clear answers. On average, diagnosis can take around 7 to 10 years.

March is a chance to build understanding and show support. You can take part in March into Yellow by wearing yellow and starting a conversation, whether that’s with a friend, family member, colleague or your healthcare team.

If you’re living with pelvic pain or endometriosis, support is available through our Pelvic Pain & Endometriosis Clinic.

You don’t need to have the right words or all the answers.
Just the opportunity to listen, reflect, and take a moment for yourself.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic, inflammatory condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus, most commonly in the pelvis.

It is a well-recognised contributor to persistent pelvic pain, but it is often just one part of a more complex picture. Pelvic pain can have multiple contributing factors, which is why a holistic and individualised approach to care is important.

Not everyone with persistent pelvic pain has endometriosis, and not everyone with endometriosis experiences ongoing pain. Each person’s experience is different, and assessment should reflect that.

Persistent pelvic pain can have many causes, and it often needs more than a quick appointment to understand properly what is going on.

The Pelvic Pain & Endometriosis Clinic at Kardinia Health is a dedicated service for people assigned female at birth living with pelvic pain or endometriosis. We offer longer consultations and coordinate care, so there’s time to listen, explore potential contributors, and understand how symptoms affect your day-to-day life.

Our care is evidence-based and considers the physical, emotional and social factors that can influence pain. Care is multidisciplinary, with GPs, nurses and allied health working together, and nurse support available between appointments.
