Something these foods have in common is that they are high in FIBRE.

Fibre helps to slow down how quickly food is digested, which then slows down how quickly the carbohydrates or sugars from your food enter the blood stream. This creates a beautifully balanced release of sugars over a longer period of time, helping to combat insulin resistance and give your body a stable energy supple from glucose.

Do you want more support to take the stress out of balancing your sugars? Something is coming and you’re not going to want to miss it! The GDM Hub email list will hear about it first, so download my free GDM-friendly snack guide to get on the list and you’ll be the first to hear about how you can make your GDM journey a breeze.

Why is it so important to keep balancing your sugars even after you give birth to your beautiful baby?

Women who have experienced GDM during pregnancy are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes in the future, which can become challenging when planning future pregnancies and optimising your future health.

By continuing to focus on your diet to optimise your blood sugars and insulin, you can do wonders for yourself and your future family, by significantly lowering the chances of type 2 diabetes developing.

Want help getting started? Comment SNACK for access to my GDM-friendly snack guide to make balancing your sugars a breeze. (And yes, this can definitely give you amazing results even postpartum and when recovering form GDM!)

Did you know that some of your lifestyle factors may be contributing to your blood sugar regulation?

Here’s a few that you may not have thought about. When looking at balancing blood sugars and aiming to achieve a healthy stable blood sugar level throughout the day, it’s important to consider other things that might be making your BGL spikes more intense or severe.

Although during pregnancy your hormones are widely responsible for BGL fluctuations and higher BGL readings, you can still focus on the things that are within your control to help balance blood sugars.

If you want to optimise your diet to help balance your blood sugars, comment PREGNANT and I’ll send your more information about how I can help you. x

One of the biggest mistakes I see women making when they begin their journey to becoming a mother - whether trying to conceive or newly pregnant, is thinking you need to restrict foods and remove food groups to improve your health.

All foods play an integral role in providing the body with sufficient energy, macronutrients and micronutrients that support the function of the body, including the ability to ovulate, fall pregnant, stay pregnant and welcome a beautiful healthy baby into the world.

If this is something that you’re struggling with, DM me and we can have a chat about how you can be supported. x

Mama, are you unsure about whether you really need to be taking Ferrograd or another high-dose of iron during pregnancy?
Unless you have a severe iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia, then probably not. This does depends on your own personal circumstances though.
+ How much iron you are getting from your diet
+ Whether you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet
+ Your ferritin and iron levels in your blood
+ Your ability to absorb iron into the blood stream
+ Your ability to utilise iron to create red blood cells.

I consider all of these things to make sure you are getting the optimal amount of iron throughout your pregnancy, in a completely personalised way.
