Meet Minelli one of our amazing Exercise Physiologists! 👋
We often get questions about the difference between Physio and Exercise Physiology - and who you should see - so we wanted to clear things up!👇
At NPG our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists both play key roles in disability care and use exercise to support your goals, but with different focuses. The best outcomes often come from a collaborative approach.
Physiotherapists:
✨ Diagnose and treat impairments like spasticity, motor control issues, vestibular dysfunction, and postural, walking or balance problems
✨ Assist with transfers, seating, equipment prescription, and carer training
Exercise Physiologists:
✨ Along with the primary condition, manage co-morbidities like diabetes or hypertension
✨ Use behaviour change strategies to promote sustainable physical activity and independence
✨ Enable people with a disability to return to activities such as running, sport and leisure, or training independently in the gym
