The end of term 1 is quickly approaching us, as is my upcoming medical leave. I am so grateful for the many kind messages and support from BMDT families over the past couple of weeks. There is no good time to have extended time off for surgery as a therapist and many mixed feelings, but looking after your health is crucial.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy school holiday period and maybe some cheeky chocolate (or two.. or three).

See you soon, Rachel!

Term 3
I am planning on opening an additional day in term 3, including highly requested afternoon sessions. So please send through a referral for your child if you are hoping for play therapy support later in the year.

Thinking of all my families as children return to school today and tomorrow. Try to allow extra time to support your own nervous system and ability for co-regulation. Transitions and changes in routine can be scary for adults let alone children, many deep breaths, extra grace, and I hope it goes smoothly for everyone.

See you soon, Rachel! ๐ŸŒธ

With my last day of work quickly approaching on Monday 22/12 and moving house over the next two days (๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธI know!).. I wanted to wish everyone a very safe and joyful holiday period!

This year has certainly been challenging in many ways but I am forever grateful for each of the families and children that I have supported in 2025. Watching their development of skills and confidence increase across sessions and providing a safe space to express and process really is a very special experience.

See you in 2026! Rachel ๐ŸŒธ ๐ŸŽ„

As we quickly move into the final weeks of term you may notice your child presenting with less tolerance and a fluctuation in their emotional state. The end of the year can bring so many mixed feelings for children..

- Things feeling out of control,
- Excitement for holidays,
- Anxiety for upcoming changes in their routine,
- Sadness with the year ending..
- Fatigue from end of year activities.

Remember, reducing demands and lowering expectations where possible to support mental health (including for yourself) is OK. The end of year chaos can be overwhelming and a hard time for many. The most special moments of connection with family members that children often bring into sessions are actually the most simple things such as a game of Uno with a parent!

Have a lovely weekend! Rachel๐ŸŒธ

My client's cheeky elf inspiring some creativity in a session last week. I love watching children's ideas come to life and their confidence grow as they achieve their desired plan!

- Expanding flexibility
- Increasing frustration tolerance
- Developing self-regulation skills
- Problem solving
- Working collaboratively
- Encouraging self-advocacy

All crucial life skills and can come naturally through play when provided the opportunity to lead it and supported therapeutically. ๐ŸŒธ

3 years running my business today! I am forever grateful for the privilege of supporting each child and family. I am lucky to truly love what I do, even on the challenging days.

There is nothing more rewarding than watching children build their confidence across sessions and celebrating the wins (big and small) with families. Thank you for your support over the last three years!

Term 4 already, this year is zooming! It can be a tricky time transitioning back to school & kinder for so many children and families after the school holiday break. I hope that everyone has a successful week, reach out for support if needed.

A reminder that I have a couple of session times available on a Monday and Wednesday this term for new clients.

See you soon! ๐ŸŒธ Rachel
