Last week, we had the privilege of attending the 2025 International Day of People with Disability Celebration Lunch as guests of LIFT Supports. It was a fantastic event proudly hosted by Leisure Networks.

We were inspired and energised by the words of Leah Alstin as MC, along with the inspiring and very funny Rhiannon Tracey, who generously shared her lived experience. It was a true honour to be in the room and learn from their stories, insights, and passion for creating a more inclusive future.

At Empower Possibility Supports, our values of Respect, Inclusion and Empowerment are at the heart of everything we do and this event was a powerful reminder of why these values matter.

🌟 Good Time Story: A Big Shoutout to Kenny! 🌟

We want to give a huge shoutout to Kenny from Kenny Injuries Prevention Services, who delivers our First Aid training here at Empower Possibility Supports. Kenny has a gift for teaching! No question is ever too small, and he makes everyone feel comfortable and confident.

Recently, one of our participants shared that she was feeling a little nervous about becoming a first-time mum and wanted to learn how to stay calm and capable in an emergency. Kenny, being the legend he is, offered a tailored First Aid session to help her feel prepared.

By the end of the training, you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face! 💚

We’re so grateful for people like Kenny who go above and beyond to empower others through knowledge and compassion.

Peer Mentor:⁣
Provides 1:1 support by helping participants build skills, confidence, and independence through community access and positive role modelling.⁣
⁣
Support Worker:⁣
Offers hands-on help with daily tasks like personal care, cleaning, and mobility to support everyday living.⁣

World Autism Understanding Day (WAUD) is about more than just awareness it’s about taking action. While awareness has grown, true understanding and support are still needed. Recent research shows 33% of people don’t know how to respond when someone shares they are Autistic, and 41% aren’t sure how to offer support.

Remember, no two Autistic individuals are the same, and autism may not be what you think it is. This year’s campaign is about fostering understanding: “If you learn I am Autistic.”

Let’s work together to create a world that’s more compassionate, kind, and understanding.
