In-hand manipulation is a fine motor task we all complete daily! From opening the toothpaste lid to adjusting a pen or pencil within the hand...these are tasks you probably do without a second thought!
But for those with dexterity, coordination, strength, mobility, tone, or range of motion challenges, these simple tasks can be very difficult.
Some fine motor activities to practice these skills:
๐Roll play dough into small balls using only the fingertips
๐Tear newspaper into strips, crumble it, and stuff an art project
๐Use tweezers to pick up small items. This works on the intrinsic muscles of the hands.
๐Lacing activities
๐Eye Droppers to drop water into recycled lids
๐Coin or button matching, sorting, and stacking
๐Small beads or cut pieces of straw-press them into play dough and tuck extra beads/straws into the palm of the hand.
