Preparing for Postpartum #3
As we prepare to welcome our third baby, I’m leaning deeply into the lessons I’ve learned from supporting others and my own postpartum journeys. This time, I’m prioritizing a plan that feels nurturing and sustainable for our family. Here’s what that looks like:
✨ Postpartum doula support – Because even doulas need doulas! Having someone to support and hold space for us will be invaluable. Thank you, .
✨ Meal train – A big thank you to Steph for setting this up for us! Nourishment is everything. Less time in the kitchen means more time resting and bonding.
✨ Filling the freezer – Stocking up on meals so we’re not scrambling for food while adjusting to life as a family of five. Huge thanks to my mother-in-law, , for helping fill our freezer.
✨ Family-first boundaries – We’re having open conversations about what feels right for us when it comes to visitors after baby arrives. Creating space to bond and rest is our top priority.
✨ Mental health check-in – Putting a plan in place so I have resources and support ready if I need them.
✨ Support for siblings – Ensuring our older two feel loved, seen, and cared for during this big transition.
✨ Bringing back the village – I will absolutely be asking for and accepting help. It’s not always easy, but I’ve learned that allowing others to step in makes all the difference.
✨ Lowering expectations – I’m giving myself permission to go slow, let go of “shoulds,” and simply be in this moment of healing and transition.
✨ Breastfeeding support – I’ve lined up resources and support now to ensure I feel confident and equipped for this journey, knowing help is just a call away if needed.
This isn’t just a season of preparing for birth; it’s about preparing for the sacred days, weeks, and months after, too. If you’re planning for your own postpartum, I encourage you to think about what your family might need most and don’t hesitate to ask for help. It’s a gift to accept care—and we all deserve it.
