A new, fully medicare funded test is now available to streamline your care in pregnancy 🙌🏼

▫️The Rhesus (Rh) factor is a protein on the surface of red blood cells.

▫️Around one in seven pregnant people are Rh negative.

▫️If you are Rh negative and your baby is Rh positive, your body can create antibodies against your baby's blood, a process called Rh sensitisation.

▫️To prevent this serious complication, Rh negative mums are recommended Anti D injections during pregnancy.

▫️A free new blood test during pregnancy analyses your babies DNA and allows us to understand your babies Rh status prior to birth.

▫️This test uses similar non-invasive genetic technology to the NIPT genetic screening. Pretty amazing!

▫️If your baby is Rh negative, Anti D is no longer recommended.

▫️ If your baby is Rh positive, Anti D injections are recommended. Our team can arrange these for you at Berth, free of charge.

▫️This optional new test helps tailor your care and ensures you and your baby receive the most appropriate management, giving you peace of mind throughout your pregnancy journey.

🌿 February 2026 Berth Groups Now Open! 🌿

We’re thrilled to announce that bookings are now open for our February 2026 Berth Group Antenatal Education Program!

With spots filling quickly in earlier groups, this is the perfect opportunity for patients due in February to secure your place.

Our program includes seven antenatal catchups led by a team of experienced professionals, covering topics like nutrition, exercise, baby and infant first aid, breastfeeding, sleep, and perinatal mental health. It’s a beautiful way to prepare for your baby’s arrival while connecting with other expectant parents and building a supportive community.

For Sarah and Nick, the arrival of baby Ronnie was the 'final piece of the puzzle, the piece we didn't even realise was missing.'

With four older siblings to dote over him, little Ronnie is one very loved and lucky boy.

Our Women’s Health GPs – Dr Alice Crowley & Dr Grace Blyth 💕

Since joining us in April, Dr Alice Crowley has been going wonderfully, providing warm, expert care every Monday and Thursday. Next month, we’re excited to welcome Dr Grace Blyth, who will be consulting on Wednesdays from 3rd September.

Between them, Alice and Grace cover the full spectrum of women’s health — from early pregnancy care, fertility and contraception, to menstrual health, menopause, pelvic pain, sexual health and compassionate care after birth trauma.

Alice also provides shared antenatal care in partnership with the public hospital, while Grace has a special interest in sexual and reproductive health, particularly in supporting patients with unplanned pregnancy decisions in a respectful, non-judgemental environment.

Dr Grace Blyth

Grace completed her Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University in South Australia before spending five years training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across Barwon Health, Northern Hospital, and the Royal Women’s Hospital. She furthered her expertise with a Certificate of Women’s Health before transitioning into General Practice, completing her training in Geelong and earning her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2024.

Grace has a strong passion for reproductive and sexual health, with a particular focus on contraception, menstrual health, perinatal mental health, birth trauma, abortion care, and sexual assault support. She currently works at Barwon Health’s Choices Clinic and Sexual Health Clinic, as well as the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine as a Forensic Medical Officer, performing sexual assault examinations and supporting those affected by trauma. She also occasionally lends her surgical skills as an assistant in theatre.

She is highly skilled in Implanon and IUD insertions, and is currently furthering her expertise by undertaking a Master’s in Forensic Medicine.

Outside of work, Grace enjoys running, great food and wine, and spending time with her family including her beautiful young daughter Sophia Kara.

Did you know you will have the opportunity to see your baby on ultrasound at every visit with your Berth obstetrician.

We especially love when big siblings come in to meet their little brothers and sisters growing in mum's tummy 🥲

From your very first early dating scan, to an ultrasound prior your in-house NIPT genetic screening, right through to monitoring your baby's growth and well-being in the third trimester, our obstetricians get to know your baby as closely as they get to know you.

As always, there is no charge for your visits or scans at Berth and we encourage you to visit us as often as needed for reassurance or if concerns arise at any time throughout your pregnancy.
