PLAY: 🦕🦓🐋🦒I love this play scene set up by my client today. Setting up, sorting and organising the animals was a great regulating activity chosen by my client. I love the symmetrical visual arrangement on the mat, bringing a sense of order and regulation for this little guy.

A slightly different view from the clinic this week with lots of cyclists gearing up for the Cadel Evan’s Race. Good luck to all the riders.

BACK TO SCHOOL:
What’s the vibe like at your place? It’s not long until school starts for 2026. Are your kids super tired from too many late nights or are they burying their head in denial that school is only a couple of weeks away? A helpful strategy with your kids could be to set aside an agreed time (eg a day or half a day) to sort through all the back to school requirements. 📚Do the uniforms still fit? 👟Do the shoes still fit and are they clean? ✏️Is the pencil case packed? 📚Are all the books and stationerylabelled? 🍎Are there any mysterious apples that have been left in the school bag all summer???? My tip is it’s better to sort things out now than leaving it to the last minute which hopefully reduces stress for both parents and kids 👊🏼You can do it!!

Love this colourful flower created by a client using my fidget tools. The petals are ‘worry stones’ of various textures. The centre is a magnetic silicon textured ball (from a set). Super creative! A colourful way to end the first week back for 2026.

It’s a scorcher today! Doing my bit to help our resident magpies friends at the clinic. Lovely and cool in the clinic though 😁.

For our clients it can be even more challenging to cope with due to sensory sensitivities and eating challenges. Meeting and greeting relatives, eating strange food at unfamiliar places, and travelling by car or plane can be a source of overload. Planning ahead may help ease the challenge. Check out our blog post for some strategies to help. https://www.katiestokesot.com.au/blog/survival-tips-christmas-day-kids-sensory-issues

🙂. Drawing a Smiley face on the thumbnail of the ‘helper hand’ (ie non dominant hand) can act as a cute visual cue for kids to remind them how to hold the paper. Try it out! ✂️
