If you hear these during your acupuncture treatment, it’s likely we are using points that influence the stomach and spleen Qi, but it may also be that your body is slowing, allowing more time and energy for digestion.

Research has shown that acupuncture can slow production and release of cortisol, your stress hormone. It is signalling to your body that your nervous system can slow down. This often coincides with slowed heart rate.
