Histamine is not just a hay fever chemical. It is a gut chemical. And if you are dealing with bloating, diarrhoea, reflux, nausea, headaches or that “I ate something and now I feel inflamed” feeling… this might be the missing piece.

Here is what most people do not realise.

Histamine is produced in the gut.
It is broken down in the gut.
And when the gut lining is irritated, inflamed or imbalanced, histamine issues get louder.

So if you are reacting to fermented foods, wine, leftovers, aged cheese, tomato, spinach or even avocado… it does not automatically mean you “have histamine intolerance.”

It often means your gut needs support.

We see this all the time in clinic. Clients come in saying
“I think I am allergic to everything.”
“I cannot tolerate healthy foods.”
“I get bloated from things that should be good for me.”

And when we dig deeper, we often find:

• Dysbiosis
• Low DAO activity
• SIBO
• Chronic stress
• Poor gut barrier integrity
• Hormonal fluctuations that amplify histamine

Histamine is also closely linked to oestrogen. So if your PMS, PMDD, period headaches or anxiety spike in the luteal phase, that is not random.

Your gut and your hormones are in conversation every single day.

The goal is not to live on a low histamine diet forever.

The goal is to calm inflammation.
Support the gut lining.
Rebalance the microbiome.
Improve clearance pathways.
And widen your tolerance window.

Because restriction is not the end game. Resilience is.

If you are stuck in the cycle of reacting to food and feeling confused about what your body is doing, this is your sign to zoom out and look at the bigger picture.

Your symptoms are data.
Your body is not broken.
And there is always a root cause

We secretly love a histamine case in clinic. Not that we want our patients to be suffering with this thing called histamine, but because it can make such a profound impact to their health and their symptoms, and their quality of life! When we suspect histamine, we treat it like a puzzle we need to solve...where is the histamine coming from?
Why can’t it be cleared?
What are the contributing factors making everything worse? And better yet...what symptoms are linked to histamine?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spoiler, it’s often a LOT. This is a great example of how someone came in for help with 3 areas of health. The right detective work allowed us to ease all 3 with relative ease.

When our Skin Scholarship winner first walked through our doors, her goal was simple. She wanted to feel confident in her own skin again. What she didn’t expect was how much her skin and her understanding of her body would change along the way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over six months, we worked together to uncover the root causes of her acne, addressing inflammation, hormones, gut health, stress, and skincare.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Her journey involved:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A tailored internal treatment plan, including functional testing, herbal and nutritional medicine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nutritional and lifestyle guidance to support her hormones and detoxification.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In-clinic treatments to rebuild skin integrity and reduce inflammation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Education around skincare routines that actually support barrier repair and long-term clarity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The result? A radiant, healthy complexion — but more importantly, restored self-confidence and a new appreciation for her body’s ability to heal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Her transformation reminds us that acne is never just a skin-deep issue — it’s a message from the body, asking for balance, support, and care.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re so proud of the effort, consistency, and trust she’s shown throughout this process. This is what holistic skin health looks like: slow, steady, and sustainable healing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The next stage is to engage treatment to address scarring.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re ready to start your own skin health journey, our practitioners would love to support you!

Let’s talk PCOS... because understanding it shouldn’t feel like decoding a medical textbook.

Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal disorders, affecting about 1 in 10 women or people with ovaries. But despite how common it is, it’s often misunderstood, underdiagnosed, and oversimplified.

At its core, PCOS is a hormonal imbalance that affects how the ovaries function, often causing issues with ovulation, irregular periods, and a variety of metabolic or skin-related symptoms. You might have cysts on your ovaries, but not always. And it’s so much more than just a “reproductive” issue.

Symptoms can vary, but many experience:
✅ Irregular or missed periods
✅ Acne or oily skin
✅ Hair thinning or hair loss
✅ Unwanted facial or body hair
✅ Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

It can also impact mental health, insulin sensitivity, and fertility. But here’s the important part:
👉 You are NOT alone.
👉 It’s NOT your fault.
👉 There ARE ways to manage it and support is out there.

Swipe through this carousel for a simple breakdown, and tag a friend who could benefit from learning more about PCOS. 💛

Breakouts before your period? Not bad luck. It’s your hormones calling the shots.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Estrogen & progesterone shifts = oil overload
👉 Cortisol (stress) = inflammation
👉 Insulin (blood sugar swings) = jawline acne
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The fix isn’t another cleanser — it’s hormone balance.
