🙋‍♀️Are you a student dietitian wanting to learn about private practice dietetics in several specialty areas?

Nutrition Prescription is offering two 6-month student dietitian internship positions (unpaid), an experience to help you gain an insight into the life as a private practice and online dietitian running a business full-time, and see what life could be like beyond graduation👨‍🎓👩‍🎓

We work with 5 niche specialty areas:
🤢Food reactions (IBS, Intolerances, coeliac & other gut issues)
🚶‍♀️Preconception🤰Pregnancy🤱Postpartum
🚴‍♂️Sports nutrition
👨‍⚕️Bariatric surgery
👶🏻Paediatrics
as well as general nutrition.

⬇️About the Role
Over 6 months, you will work with me to develop a variety of written and visual content for our workshops, blog, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, as well as other resources and assist with projects including marketing, digital courses and digital products.

You will get to develop your written communication skills, understand the fundamentals of private practice and get the opportunity to observe consultations in our niche areas of dietetics within a supervised and supportive environment - with the benefit of mentoring along the way!🤩

Essential criteria:
☑Currently studying a recognised dietetics course at an Australian University.
☑Have a passion for nutrition & dietetics, and social media & writing
☑Organised, strong initiative and high level of commitment
☑Confident with using Canva and social media
☑Be open to critical feedback on work

🚩Desirable:
Be Geelong or Melbourne based and willing to commute on occasion to assist with workshops, clinics and attend face-to-face meetings (non-Geelong / Melbourne based applicants will still be considered).

This is my high fibre, healthy twist on traditional banana bread 🍌🍞...
👉CINNAMON FRUIT MUFFINS 🙌 are great to pack in the school lunch box or to take to work for that 3pm snack attack❗ enjoy 😍
Ingredients ➡️
🔷️ 2 🍌
🔷️ 1 🍐
🔷️ 5 medium / large 🍓
🔷️ 1/2 cup olive oil
🔷️ 2 🥚
🔷️ 1 cup wholemeal sr flour
🔷️ 1/2 cup brown sugar
🔷️ 2Tbs chia seeds
🔷️ 2tsp ground cinammon
🔷️ mixed seeds and grains to top

➡️mash up fruit, mix all ingredients together and place in greased muffin tray. Sprinkle with mixed seeds and bake @ 180 degrees until golden

👩‍🍳 What cooking appliances/ utensils do you use most often?

My friends, this is my microwave steamer. It has been in my life longer than my husband... but I ❤ them both the same (😅).
I was making dinner and actually realised I bought it almost 10 years ago when I was managing Curves gym in Penrith.

I use this almost every night in the cooler months to cook my veggies, in the summer we are more salad people.

🙋‍♀️ why is it my favourite gadget? Well these types of things make cooking more convenient i.e. quicker and with less to wash up... it calls to my within.

👩‍⚕️⁉️Most Australians, believe it or not, actually don't eat enough vegetables, so removing the obstacles of time⏰ and effort can help you to meet your daily requirements🥕🍅🥦

🍝⁉️Is pasta bad? No
🍝⁉️wholemeal or white? I always op for wholemeal because of the fibre, but if you generally have enough fibre in your diet then no need to switch
🍝⁉️Is pasta bad for blood sugars? No. Wheat pasta is low Gi. Low Gi carbs digest slowly and cause a steady rise in blood glucose levels BUT having too large a portion of pasta (or any other carbohydrate) can affect your blood sugars ➡️ portion size is key
🍝⁉️Should we cut out carbs like pasta when trying to lose weight? Not necessarily, reducing your portion of carbs, as well as fats and protein is a good idea and boosting your non-starchy vegetable intake instead is a good strategy. E.g. add a side salad or zoodles. 👉 Remember "low carb" does not mean "no carb" and wholesome carbohydrates offer fibre, vitamins and minerals - not just energy ✔
🍝⁉️ Should we switch to low carb pasta when trying to lose weight or manage diabetes? If you like to eat large portions and have difficulty with portion control, these products can be reall handy, however they tend to be quite expensive so aren't too cost effective 💲💲💲
🍝⁉️ White sauce or red? On a regular basis, red but occasionally having a white sauce is a pleasant change, a third option for variety is using a yummy pesto 🤤
I tried both of these 👉 San Remo & Atkins and compared them to each other.
Verdict:
🔸️ taste: both pleasant 🔸️texture: both a little gritty but thats the fibre
🔸️value for money: ✔San Remo $1.95/500g ❌Atkins $4.45/250g
🔸️diabetes friendly portion size for approx 30g carb: San Remo🔎45g vs ✔ 120g Atkins
OVERALL for my household: 🏆controlled portion of San Remo🍝 ➕ 🥗 in a Mediterranean inspired meat and veg red sauce.... if you need to limit carbs and have a big appetite that a side salad can't fix, then the Atkins pasta is another good option. .
