A little behind the scenes of our space at YO-T. ✨
We offer a range of body-based, trauma-informed sessions — including sensorimotor clayfield therapy, EMDR and safe & sound protocol and craniosacral therapy — because healing doesn’t always look like talking.
Sometimes it’s stillness. Sometimes it’s movement. Sometimes it’s finally feeling safe enough to just… be.
If your body has been trying to tell you something, this is a space to listen.

Occupational Therapy has always been about one thing — how we function in daily life.
Not just coping. Not just surviving the week. But the routines, the rhythms, the small daily acts that either regulate us or deplete us.
Recovery + Regulation was built on that foundation. Neuroscience and somatic theory — translated into the practical, everyday tools that actually shift how you move through your days.
Because knowing why your system responds the way it does is only half of it. The other half is building new patterns. Slowly. Sustainably. In real life.
That’s the OT difference. Theory that becomes practice. Practice that becomes you.

Most of us have forgotten what it feels like to fully stop.
We rest — but we don’t recover. We sleep — but we wake up tired. We take the holiday — and come back needing another one.

Rhythm is an evening built around one question — what happens when you stop trying to manage yourself and simply allow yourself to be held?
Restorative yoga and Craniosacral therapy. Two practices that work with your nervous system’s deepest intelligence — not to fix anything, but to allow something as the body’s self correcting mechanisms come online.

Your exhale is longer than your inhale for a reason.
Across neuroscience research, one finding is remarkably consistent — a longer exhale is the primary driver of nervous system regulation. It activates the parasympathetic system through cardiac vagal tone, slowing the heart rate and shifting the body toward rest.
Pranayama has understood this for thousands of years. The neuroscience is now catching up.
But here’s what the research also tells us — there is no single best technique. A 2024 review found that specific breathing rates and ratios are not the decisive factor in long-term effectiveness. The psychological effects of breathwork are shaped by individual nervous system patterns, history, sensory sensitivity and capacity.
Which means the best breath practice isn’t the most researched one. It’s the one that’s right for your system.
At YO-T we draw from the full breadth of pranayama tradition — Nadi Shodhana, Bhramari, Chandra Bhedana, extended exhale practices and more. What we offer is matched to the individual in front of us, following assessment. Not a one-size prescription.
If you’ve tried breathwork and found it didn’t land — or you’re not sure where to start — a session with our team is the right place to begin.

Why does burnout look so different in women?
Because the research that defined it didn’t include us.

Women’s bodies were largely excluded from medical research until 1993. Which means decades of health guidelines, stress research and treatment protocols were built on male physiology — and then applied to everyone.

This isn’t a small gap.
It shows up in how burnout presents differently in women. In how fatigue and autoimmune conditions get dismissed. In why so many high-achieving women are told they’re fine on paper — but feel anything but.
Women aren’t just smaller versions of men. Our nervous systems, hormonal cycles and stress responses are distinct — and they deserve to be treated that way.

At YO-T we approach our work from a whole-person starting point. One that brings together women’s physiology, lived experience and nervous system health — and holds all of it as interactive and essential.

Your body has its own rhythm. This evening is an invitation to come back to it.

Rhythm is a 90-minute workshop weaving together restorative yoga and craniosacral therapy — two practices that work with your nervous system’s deepest intelligence to restore ease, regulation and presence.

No effort. No performance. Just your body, held and supported, finding its way back to itself.

This is for you if you’re exhausted but can’t fully switch off. If you live mostly in your head. If you’ve been curious about craniosacral therapy and want a gentle introduction. Or if you simply need an evening that asks nothing of you.

Becoming a mother was the best thing that ever happened to me. And it still changed me in ways I wasn’t ready for.

That’s matrescence — the developmental transition into motherhood. Neurological, hormonal, identity-level. As significant as adolescence, and yet we barely talk about it.
It’s not about whether you love being a mum. Most of us do, deeply.
It’s about the reorganisation that happens underneath that love.
The version of yourself you’re still becoming.
The parts of your old life you quietly grieve even while you’re building something better.
The moments where you look around at this beautiful, full life — and still wonder where you went.
You can feel the joy and the disorientation at the same time. The love and the loss. The expansion and the grief.
That’s not contradiction.
That’s matrescence.
And when you understand what’s actually happening in your nervous system and your identity during this transition — the fog starts to lift.
Not because something was wrong.
Because something significant was happening.

This is some of the work we hold at YO-T. For women in the middle of becoming.

Where are you in your transition right now? I’d love to hear. 🌿

Save this if it names something you’ve been feeling. Share it with a mother who needs to hear it.

Ever felt too wired to think — or too flat to feel anything? That’s your nervous system moving outside its window of tolerance.

The window of tolerance is a concept we use every single day in OT and yoga therapy at YO-T. Once you understand it, so much about your mental and physical health starts to make sense.

Swipe to understand your three zones — and what it actually takes to widen your window over time.

Save this one. It’s a framework behind some of what we do — from our one-on-one OT sessions to our Recovery + Regulation program.

Questions? Drop them below. We love talking about this stuff.

You don’t always need more insight.
Sometimes you need a different way in.
This workshop isn’t about being “creative” — it’s about creating space to understand yourself in a new way.
If you’ve been feeling disconnected, in transition, or unsure of who you are right now…this is a gentle place to land.
Through guided art therapy practices, we move beyond thinking
and into expression, awareness, and reconnection.
No pressure. No performance.
Just space to explore.

EMDR is powerful work — and you don’t have to navigate it alone.
As endorsed Mental Health OTs, we can help you build the regulation, routines and grounding skills that make EMDR safer, smoother and more effective.

Your nervous system deserves support at every layer because it isn’t just about processing the past — it’s about giving your nervous system the bandwidth it needs to support your functioning now.. 💛

Head to the link in BIO for a more descriptive video outlining what’s involved in EMDR.
